Ghana shouldn't feel complacent, and think we are the world Gurus of health Insurance. These are very intelligent groups who are coming over to learn what mistakes we incurred after starting such a wonderful program, that landed us in this mess, so they can make efforts not to repeat them. How on earth can any sane educated person talk of a once-off premium in Healthcare when you don't even have money to pay your doctors ?? Simply put, you don't need to be an Astrophysicist to know this is unsustainable ! Even my illiterate Great Grandmother would have laughed it off. Which traditional Healer would accept a one time payment for healing a client for life ?! Or do the politicians define a lifetime as the length of their term in office ??! ie 4 years ?? God have Mercy on us ! One thing we need to know is that, if we allow our Politicians to let e NHIS sink, all hopes of Health Professionals in the Diaspora , who have been fervently making plans to come back home at last would have to give up their efforts. Most Health Professionals left the Country first and foremost, because they could no longer stare in the eyes of helpless dying patients, whose lives they well know they could have saved with minimum intervention/medication, and ask them to go across the street to buy ABC. Most of them are very traumatized from what they had to go through and are still healing. The earlier we start addressing these issues at stake and stop politicizing every possible issue , the better it will be for us as a nation. How many Heads of States and good citizens of Ghana have to die due to our foolishness before we start using our brains for Christ's Sake ??!!

Ghana is really making strides with its NHIS despite the challenges. Really proud of this.

To come and learn of a failed system? Why should Ghana keep inviting these countries for study tour. Probably they are learning of a failed system to avoid one.

U shd see how people outside Ghana respect our NHIS some of u ignorantly insult. This is the mentality that kills this country. Did you read the story at all? This is cheap! The fact that u have sympathies towards a certain political party doesnt mean u shouldnt support state institutions doing well. It is demoralising when i hear people talk like the way u do. The NHIS has seen many reforms right before our own eyes. Do u expect the NHIS of 8years ago to be the same as today? It is better and more structured now. When it started less than a million people were in it will all the money, now it's about 9million people wit the same sources of funding. What do u expect? with all the challenges, i think the NHIA has tried to institute measures to make things work. Politics in ghana suck! Pull him down syndrome is Ghana's bane!
