Well done on trying innovative and culturally-relevant solutions. We look forward to reading about the impact on attitudes and behaviours over time.

There are countless numbers of Ghanaians in the diaspora who would like to return and help rebuild our Motherland. But our frustration starts at the airport. Armed robbery is on the ascendancy, so is the nepotism inherent in our society. Although death is called 'the leveller', it levels the poor ones first. Hospitals abroad are full of Ghanaian doctors and nurses, most of whom are there because they have 'to work to pay off the debts incurred by the family back home'on their education. I would like to plead with our sons and daugthers in the medical profession abroad to give up at least a week of their annual holiday to help in rural hospitals and clinics in Ghana.Isn't it a shame that foreign nationals volunteer their services while we continue to sit on the fence?

Great job, doctor. Voices like your are the only hope left in getting things done in Ghana and much of Africa. A caring leadership would have attended to maternal health long, long ago, but our leaders are either greedy, looking out for themselves, their families and ethnic group, or are totally clueless. We have leaders only in name--it's a shame. Let us hope that, with the TV program you describe in your piece, concerned Ghanaians will do the right thing to solve the health problem in this country.

This is indeed incredible and an innovation. I strongly believe that this is how media must be used - for instigating social Change that is evidence-based. As an activist of maternal health, I have shared similar thoughts on Facebook and linkedin on the need to focus on and involve rural communities which trigger the mm numbers. Big up Dr, we rally behind you and sure, a change must come because according to the PMNCH of WHO, averting maternal deaths requires no sophisticated tools or high budgets - just the commitment to act! We must all act now!

My own sister nearly became a statistic if it weren't for a benevolent woman who gave her blood last November at the same Keta hospital. The staffs at the maternity ward were so mean to all the clients but the administration do very little to the complaints of the town's people about the heartless treatment coming from the staff members.
