I started running abt 8 years ago & am know at my fifties with 6 marathon run medals. Am talking abt full marathon 42km195m. My sexual youth power was regained, People think am 27 yrs. But the sad thing is that, 75 percent of my own best Ghanaian friends with big bellies do not need me any more. The youth has become my friends instead. My old friends cant do the math of understanding my wonderfull good shape & healthy lifestyle. They are too lazy to run just 1km slowly in a whole year. They eat at any place of convinence, they believe aging is a norm to do nothing in sports. Oh sport & dance are for kids is their lazy excuss. But they are always having doctors appoitments and the pharmacy is their matuary.

Great piece Doc.I am in my aerly 60s and have all kinds of sickness BP,diabetes and cholesterol but Doc I donot even feel it.None of these ailments is a death sentence provided you do the right things.What is rather killing our folks is not even knowing their health status from time to time because our health status will continue to change from time to time.I am 63 and had BP at 30,diabetes at 56 and cholesterol at 50.I know all these because I am very proactive with my health and go for my regular check ups every 3 months,take my medications as prescribed by my Doc,exercise 2 to 3x a week,watch what I eat.No salt,no red meat only chicken and fish,more vegetables,beans,water,wheat bread,try to get enough sleep,no sodas or sweetend drinks etc.and I can tell my numbers are always under control and believe me I always feel like I am in my 20s.I do weight lifting,rope jumping,Tread MIll etc.Donot allow the word old to get into your head.When you attend a party dance because dance is therapy by itself.Remember dancing is one of the best exercises out there.Donot leave dancing only to the young.Great piece Doc.indeed.Our son is in medical school and he continues to drum home the importance of exercise to us.Thanks again Doc.
