  We're still waiting for the Ministry Of Health to start aggressive public health education to highlight the causes of these lifestyle/Non- communicable diseases. Can we afford to spend all our resources on the ever increasing cases of these NCDs? Why should we be concentrating on fire fighting iso prevention?

Our leftist leaders keep fooling us with stories about Europe and America being responsible for our underdevelopment. At the same time, our stolen wealth, their wives and children always head for the same destinations.
  African Medical Students should start research on the Apol1 gene if we are to be saved from kidney disease.

  The regular long-term misuse of Anti-Inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen, Diclofenac and many others damages the kidneys of hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians.We take these drugs for every headache,muscle or joint pain unsupervised by a medically qualified individual. Even more serious is the fact that millions of adult Ghanaians and even some children with high blood pressure (HYPERTENSION) remain untreated either because they don't even know they have the condition or because even where they have been diagnosed they do not understand that they need to be on REGULAR DAILY ANTI-HYPERTENSIVES to ensure that their Blood Pressure GOES BACK TO NORMAL( Most cannot afford regular antihyprtensives or in some cases have no access to these medications) I know of adults who have ended up with a stroke or kidney failure because of persistent high Blood pressure around of about 150/90mmHg (which many High BP patient's wrongly assume is normal). BP IDEALLY MUST BE WELL CONTROLLED ,WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS SHOULD BE NO HIGHER THAN 120/80mmHg. However each person's situation is different and High BP patients need careful monitoring by a qualified healthcare professional to ensure that the right treatment (including the right medications,lifestyle advice and diet) are prescibed.IT CAN TAKE MONTHS BEFORE YOUR DOCTOR OR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL WORKS OUT THE RIGHT DRUG OR DRUG COMBINATION THAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU AND THIS TREATMENT MAY NEED TO BE MODIFIED OVER THE YEARS TO ENSURE EFFECTVE AND SAFE CONTROL OF YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE.   Talk about pharmaceutical drugs including those given by doctors to treat certain conditions, self-medicated drugs, illegal drugs and substance use, food and diet, drinking, urine retention, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, oxalates, uric acid and calcium content, overuse of certain vitamins eg vitamin c, lack of certain nutrients, minerals and vitamins eg citrates, eg potassium imbalance, lactic acidosis +metabolic acidosis (always eating bread, rice, evaporated milk, meats and not enough sour fruits, no vegetables, no fiber, sedentary life, no sweating activity like walking, jogging,etc) elevated daily stress levels, lack of sleep, unregulated and uncontrolled concoction use, DIABETES + HBP and many other seemingly harmless choices we make raise our CKD risks.
