But in Ghana doctors and lawyers are untouchables. Doctors and nurses are killing Ghanaians here and there due to professional incompetence and yet nothing is done to them. Ghanaians are even afraid to report doctors to the police or the body for regulating the professional conduct of doctors .Meanwhile the killing goes on unabated with several Ghanaian hospitals becoming killing fields.

I bet corruption will also start drinking if not already. Why can’t we talk to issues and leave corruption alone. If a doctor goes to work drunk, my friend, there is a problem other than corruption. This is a habit that has been cultivated, and hence has become a problem on the individual. There fine medical officers out there who do not drink on job. Can we say that is also corruption?

I think the Ethics Committee should be up and doing before it’s too late! The Health Ministry should also be interested in following up and institute strict and corrective measures before it’s too late.

There are obviously very good, dedicated and hardworking medical doctors. Let’s not allow the few ones allegedly engaged in such activities on duty to tarnish the image of the profession.
