    Nuclear power would be the best alternative; a single plant can serve the entire Ghana and beyond however, its waste disposal will be a HUGE challenge to Ghana since we even struggle to dispose off our common domestic waste.

    Coal fired power sources are being phased out and where they exist the resource, coal itself is mined there and so the resource and the energy source are all in one place.

    You also forgot to mention, you are burdening national resources and potential investments into other sectors by incurring a huge import bill. The opportunity cost is very large.
