This explanation does not sound correct. This foreign company simply ignore this poor man. According to Tony Nwosu, Country Manager for Baker Hughes, the company did not have the authority or power of attorney to make decisions on behalf of Mr Boateng. This is not true because the same person said that Mr. Boateng when he went to coma, later regained consciousness. That means that he did not need anyone to make decisions for him.Mr. Boateng was conscious now and did not need Power of Attorney to make decisions. His physicians could talk with him. If his physicians dumped him in a nursing home, it was wrong. It can only be done by the instructions his company who is paying the cost. Unless on his file, the said Mr. Boating has written "DO NOT RESUSCITATE." Even that might have been a different issue. As I read the explanation, it is true that the Company Baker Hughes abandon this employee.

What is the side of the story from the family? What is Govt doing about this. Clearly a family cannot be expected to be able to tackle an Oil Giant?
The State should appoint a seasoned Attorney to represent the family in all negotiations and discussions going forward.
Questions which remain unanswered are the following:
1. Has Mr Boateng been compensated for the work place injury?
2. For how long will his income be protected?
3. Why was a sick young man taken to an old age home and not a hospital?
4. Is South Africa the best option for care in this case? What about the companies home country the USA?
No one should be fooled by the public display of sympathy. It is a pure publicity gimmick.
They need to do more to show genuineness.

Ghanaian ey!! .. Who does that?... which company in Ghana will still put an injured worker on a payroll when sick for over years? Which company will give better treatment to their workers.. and have to finished asking ourselves why they didnt bring him to our hospitals?... Look.. this company is doing well .. and we should rather encourage them to care for our brother. For I think the family and the victims brother was unduly influenced by those activist to blackmail the company. U know how activist hype things. Lets ask ourselves... the many times that the brother went to SA, who paid for trip?... his hotel expenses and stuff, who paid?... And I not sure the word "Abandon" is too serious a word to use. Please!. I'm sure the victim himself will be sad for how this "little" issue has been hyped on air. I pray that God will heal him.
They would have left this man to die if his plight hadn't been made known publicly.
The family should find a good lawyer.
