Dr. Opoku man lectured me Maths twice - one at High School when returned from Cornell ( and Legon did not offer him vacancy) and then later at Faculty of Engineering, UST.
I will never forget, when at Form 3, the man started teaching me Euclids Algorithm. Infact, when he mentioned the name 'Euclid', the whole class turned hysterical. By the time he got into the middle of the lesson, half of us were already asleep in the room.
By the way, he is not from Konongo. He hails from Patriensa, some few miles from Konongo.
Kwame, I'm not kidding, I need his contact because he was twice my lecturer and my friend.

When a Ghanaian a company is growing, Ghanaians kill it with allegations of corruption. Corruption is everywhere in the world. I'm not supporting it, but I'm saying Ghanaians should look at the bigger picture. Companies like Glo and Dangote group got lots of favours from successive Nigerian govts to get to this level. They're now all over Africa providing jobs for Nigerians (top positions) and for the citizens of those countries.

The article lists Professor Allotey's sterling accomplishments yet you and Mr Deeply Empty Thought cannot comprehend any of it!
Technology is defined as "the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry." All technological applications spring from theoretical knowledge. There is a division of labour. Einstein and other scientists did not build the atomic bomb. They used their theoretical knowledge to guide the practical process. There are engineers and technicians who accomplish this. Professor Allotey through his work in establishing the academic infrastructure for training the scientists, mathematicians, and engineers has laid a firm foundation for Ghana's (and Africa's) technological revolution. This is the man who has been more involved than anyone in preparing the brains - the real thinkers (not Mr Deeply Empty Thought!) and doers that can execute the technological revolution. The ball has been squarely, as the saying goes, for decades in the court of the government and citizens. Where is the state or public-private iniatives? Don't ask Professor Allotey. Ask your Mahamas and Kufuors! Kwame Nkrumah established several facilities - from schools to universities to industries to launch this technological revolution. We overthrew him and destroyed or looted what he built. Now all we get is a bunch of retards graduated from the Rawlings JSS system who are incapable of simple comprehension and get up to fire insults on the internet against highly-accomplished academic personalities.

it is our character, why cant products from our technical schools cant gain admission to our universities..too much theory.
remember just recently the frm vice chancellor of knust, prof aidam was asked why the university could not help produce cars and the like in reference to the exploits of apostle safo kantanka,- his response was that is not their mandate. he may be right. but we ask how can academia help transform or help move our country from just been excessively theoritical to operationalizing the benefit of academic research to our daily life. thats the question of deep thought...
in other words how could academia and industry work to bring the benefits of academic research to affect the daily life of u and i....and i believe that is order.

There is such a thing as division of labour. The Scientific Intelligentsia in academia cannot be held responsible for the failure of politicians in charge of the state, and industrialists and entrepreneurs from taking advantage of the brain power produced by academia. This is the procedure in all developed contries. Kwame Nkrumah was the only politician who tried to launch an industrial revolution utilizing the brain power he was cultivating by sending hundreds, if not thousands, of students abroad, building schools, universities, and industries. Do some research on Nkrumah's plan - get hold of his 7yr Development Plan, and also read "Africa Must Unite"!

Professor Allotey may be a brilliant mathematician and scientists. But even the brilliant must keep up with the literature of their field, and avoid irresponsible statements on matters they do not have expertise on.
Recently, Professor Allotey told Ghanaians solar panels were too expensive for Ghanaians to use to solve even part of the "Don-Sor" problem. We believe that this is the height of absent-mindedness, or someone plainly outside their league.
Clearly, we've not seen anyone proposing that we use solar panels to power Akosombo dam.
So, we want to BBC to question Prof Allotey extensively on this matter. We believe that for Ghanaians, this would probably be the most important question the BBC can ask of Professor Allotey, today.
The other question will be about religion, superstition, and fanaticism!

You could tell those Polish mathematicians admired him and love to engage him in math arguments. Like most excellent professors I have met, he is not as eloquent in English as one would expect.
