KNUST failed to rusticate and report to the police a female student who beat up her roommate; the lecturers have been bought. It has been said that many lecturers lack teaching methodologies. What should be the minimum requirement when recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??
Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.
GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.
Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults; some have families and may be business executives.

You can find plenty of KNUST research reports on this page of the website:

Or perhaps you can elaborate what you mean by "modern project worthy of mention" ?

A couple of Campuses situated in Techiman in Brong Ahafo and Akyem Oda or indeed in any other places in Ghana would enhance technical education in the country. I'm completely overwhelmed or baffled about this foreign Campus idea. In the first place, what are the reasons, that necessitate that Campus and the benefits to Ghana, considering the probability that, non of the Students is coming back to the Country anytime soon to contribute their quotas to help move the Country forward,or at least pay taxes on their income,if any, to Ghana gov't.
Were these Students admitted in Ghana and sent to Dubai,or they live in Dubai and were enrolled in that Country. I think more Ghanaian could have had the chance to University Education if that Campus was in any. part of our Country. That is the way forward. To open KNUST in about 4 Regions in the Country is an idea long overdue. Imagine 5 authorities traveling to Dubai to graduate 12 Students. What a waste of Taxpayer Funds ! I am forced by such irresponsible circumstances to conclude that, with some people, the higher they reach on the academic ladder, the more foolish they become.
A foolish "cocoase" idea indeed !

The hypocricy of universities in Ghana amazes me.Most of these graduands are holders of HND who have been suppressed in Ghana for a very long time now. Most of them out of the frustration of the Ghanain system have relocated outside and through a dint of hard-work they are making it big time. In order to tap into their wealth KNUST is trying to bring university degree to their door step. Were we not in this country when KNUST proclaimed that the HND is not a requirement for admission into KNUST? You see, our useless universities always want to reap where they never sowed. No wonder graduates of or universities become very useless when they don't get others to employ them after school.

Brothers, thanks for your well-placed concerns about the stupidity that is enriching every sector of the Ghanaian 'sikadiciousity". University lecturers must also create the wherewithal to syphon money to themselves if the government has the perfect trickery to divert IMF loans into buying sanitary pads for elementary school girl, the Northerners at the head of the National Service Scheme devised a way to rake the allocated funds into their pockets AND GO SCOT-FREE! Ghanaian students are wide awake and will organize an "aluta" if their lecturers start diverting their school fees. So the other avenue is, ALL THE WAY TO DUBAI!!!

OMG!. This report is astounding!!! The KNUST (IDL) graduated "over 8,000 undergraduates" in June 2014? Were they all Ghanaian students? Well, since the acquisition of knowledge has no country-specific demarcation borders, one would expect the huge number to include Dubaians as well as students from other nationalities in Dubai or the UAR. Please, take care not to cheapen the quality of the well-known and respected degrees from KNUST.
But Prof. Ellis, holding my red ink-pen over your speech as you did to mine many years ago, I notice two slips. In paragraph 5 line 12; the sentence that starts with "performance. The initiative here is...", the 'firm BELIEVE' should be "firm BELIEF". And just three line below that, the word "BEGUN" - the plu-perfect tense - should have been the simple past tense "BEGAN".
Written in good faith, my Professor!
