Why were the Asantefuohene of New York and his entire retinue absent on this colourful occasion? Ghanaians and divisions, we will never succeed, or is it that, the affordable houses , libraires and hôtels are not going to be constructed in Kumasi, hence this jealousy, my fellow brothers Asantes stop this game.

Odikro,
Please first ask yourself whether the New York Asantefuohene and his retinue were invited to the event in the first place.
Secondly, the report indicates that there was Otumfuo's representative (Otumfuo Safiasehene) who made a strong presence at the function.
Thirdly, please understand that, New York Asantefuohene and his retinue cannot just dress up and attend a function they have not been invited to. What about if they go and there are no seats reserved for them? They need to be respected and accorded the necessary courtesy via official invitation before they can attend.
Further, please note that the report is biased against Asantes because there are many other prominent Ghanaian tribes whose absence was not mentioned ... Fante, Akyem, Kwahu, Hausa, Mosi, Frafra, Dagarti etc. Why does the report not talk about those also and has rather picked on Asantes only?
Please get it straight into your demented coconut head and hate-filled anti-Asante heart that, Asantes are very proud of their culture and would not do anything to debase it. In Asante tradition, a chief does not go out with his entourage without invitation and the necessary courtesies.
Also, we all know that Ewes are known to be generally uncomfortable with Asantes. The utterances, attitudes, actions and hateful writings of prominent Ewes like Kofi Awoonor and Rawlings are enough evidence of how Ewes would seek to avoid Asantes under any circumstance. They know that Asantes are very robust when it comes to cultural affairs.
Accordingly, the Ewe organizers of the cultural bonanza might have entertained fears that the Asantes would steal the show with their respectable flamboyant cultural presence and trivialize the Ewes themselves who were hosting the event. To avert this, they would rather not extend any invitation to New York Asantefuohene.
Your hatred for Asantes will not pay you any dividend. Next time tell the Ewes to invite the New York Asantefuohene and his elders as a gesture of respect and courtesy.

Many years ago, when in the jungles of the Ashanti kingdom there were no cars and no tarred roads, it was probably necessary for humans to carry the royals in palanquins? What is so nice about humans carrying other humanson their shoulders on the paved streets of Mount Vernon, New York?
With appreciation and admiration of this nonsense we define as our culture, we will be forever stuck in this time warp and never evolve into a higher civilization of humans. I wish Ghanaians will leave this nonsense (including the pounded fufu, goat meat soup and shito) back in the villages of Ghana, and once in the US, evolve into the 21st century. If such cultural practices are what identifies us as a people, then we are truly behind!
