NPP-USA Supports Sir John.

NPP-USA joins our teeming supporters both in Ghana and around the world to stand in solidarity to support the indefatigable General Secretary of NPP, Mr..Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, aka Sir John. Mr.. Owusu Afriyie was with us in the USA from July 20, 2013 and left to Ghana on August 7, 2013. Although, Mr. Owusu Afriyie was in the USA for a private visit in Texas, he took the opportunity to visit six major cities, Denver, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Hartford and New York City respectively, to discuss the ongoing electoral petition with Ghanaians and friends of Ghana.

Mr. Owusu Afriyie performed credible community service in these US cities to uplift Ghana's democratic credentials, by educating both Ghanaians and friends of Ghana who came to listen to him. Mr. Owusu Afriyie left an indelible positive imprint on the minds of his audience about his faith in Ghana's judiciary to deliver a verdict on the ongoing petition before the Supreme Court based on the rock solid evidence presented by NPP. He also displayed his depth of knowledge about the legal procedures to the admiration of his audience. Mr.. Owusu Afriyie portrayed Ghana's judiciary in a very positive light in far away USA. It is instructive to note that the General Secretary shared with his US audience the guidelines he issued to the party’s communication team to desist from using contemptuous language when discussing the case in the Supreme Court before leaving to the States

It has been reported by the news media outlets that Mr. Owusu Afriyie is to appear before Ghana's Supreme Court on August 14, 2013 to answer charges of contempt preferred against him. Mr. Owusu Afriyie has a penchant to use flowery Kwabere dialect of the twi language to describe mundane occurrences. If perhaps, in the heat of political radio discussion, he may have used any such language that may have offended the sensibilities of some of the judges, we implore our esteemed members of the bench to forgive him. For Mr. Owusu Afriyie has demonstrated that he is a selfless political servant who genuinely believes in entrenching Ghana's democracy. As a professional lawyer himself, he holds the bench in high esteem and would not denigrate the high office of our esteemed justices.

Ghana is on the verge of making history, and we believe the judges in the Supreme Court will rise up to the task by adjudicating the ongoing electoral petition with boldness and justice for the sake of peace and prosperity for posterity.

To Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and Hopeson Adorye, NPP-USA is solidly behind you in this defining moment in Ghana's political history. If and when you appear before the judges, may you be imbued with the courage of Dr. J. B. Danquah and Barfour Osei Akoto, and the sagacity of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia.
