Staffs at the Berlin embassy are the most corrupt public servants in Ghana. They deliberately frustrate you by delaying your application until you pay bribe before the render services which they are paid to do. They are rude on the phone even if they answers the phone. Most Ghanaians in Germany have experienced corrupt practises but as usual by nature leave it to God. The folks working there have to be transfer to Ghana.

Yes 10 options in both English and German.
What is still worse, after pressing the desired number, the line would ring for a while and then I was told the person I want to call is busy and line dropped.
Infact when they introduced that bogus answering system, irrespective of whic opton you pressed, it would take you to the last option and then begin from otion 1 again - incessantly.

During my student days, I travelled all the way from my hostel to Ghana Embassy, Rheinalle 58, Bonn-Bad-Godesberg to have my pasporty renewed. After going through all procedures, I was told that the man to sign (one Baetha, then ) was not available to sign so they would post to me after he had signed. I went to nearby kiosk to buy envelope, self-addresed it and placed enough stamps so they could register it.
10 days week later, I received the passport and to my surprise - it was not signed, neither did it have the official Ghana Embassy stamp in it.
I could hardly believe what I saw. Luckily, those days, there was this Indian dude at the reception. I called, he connected me to the consular section. In short, I had to re-register the invalid document back to them and received it (this time signed) two weeks later.
Ghanaian officials have proved to be incompetent not only in Ghana, but wherever they have been transferred to work. How can a nation develope with that kind of work attitude?

It is absolutely right that the writer has put the daily business or the official business of the Ghana Embassy in Berlin in the public domain and fortunanely asking the public for their comments or opinion. Reading through the piece the writer made it clear that he did fill or provided some of the questions demanded on the forms. I'm not an official of the GE in Berlin, but critically no official at the embassy is duty bound to complete the form for him.
Luckily, the procurement of the various Antragformulas could be done downloaded, due to the introduction of the new technology.
The Identification issue raised here is a serious matter but the Authorities never rely on the information (passport)one supplies on demand but do cross-check the authencity of it, and this takes many forms.
Considering the nature of the article it seems the writer did not consult or seek the advise of the boss of the Embassy for a redress, and hopefully the impasse could have been resolved. Surely, we all make mistakes but there's always a way out.
H.E Paul K. Aryene is doing a very good job, very accomodative and attentive, has human feelings for all. Our cooperation with the Embassy is very important. It is only through this that we are going to achieve maxim progress and benefit.

Look, I tell you this: 3 months after sending my renunciation forms, I called there to find out. The answer was that I made a mistake, so the forms are still there!!! Yes, you may call that competency!!
In any German office, if a document is partially filled or missing, the authorities will inform you and give you mostly 2 weeks to send it. But not Ghana Embassy.
By the way, if you want to have fun/ taste the wrath of the Ghana Embassy Berlin, just call their main line +49 30 5471490 (and not any behind-the-door number /number given to friends and connection men ) and see what happens.
The Ambassador may be good attending events on behalf of Ghana and seeking Ghana's interest in the face of the host country Germany, but the Embassy staff treat fellow Ghanaians like a piese of "kacke", the German word for s**t.

Definitely, the staffers (workers) at the Ghana Embassy in Berlin may be impolite to the public or show some degree of incompetency in the execution of the official job, but the question stil remains whether the rightful channel was/is used to seek for the correction of the mistakes made at the office. The German officials/civil servants also do make mistakes when doing official assignments but these aren't published in the various media, but they find ways of addressing the issue. This gravierendes matter should attract the attention of the boss in the Haus, and he in turn find an alternative way of solving the issue. My contribution to this unfortunate issue is not in support of what the staffer did but to see the matter at a different perspective. Let us not always wash our linien in public, for there are means of solving such issues.
There are many Ghanaian organisations in Germany which could have organise a meeting with the Embassy and have a serious discussions on the way and manner the Embassy treats Ghanaians and I believe strongly the workers would sit up and do what is requested of them.

I also went through similar situation some few years back. The problem is, most of the Ghanaian population in Germany are not highly educated and don't know where to complain. Those officials know that and are using it to their advantage.
If you need a paper or a new passport from them, you must pay bribe to them. If you don't be prepared to wait for nearly a year for simple document.
Now wonder our country is in such a mess. Similar people are managing our country with no proper organization.

Reading through all the comments rendered on this page I could not find even a single positive comment about our Embassy. Is it really true that all the officers working at the Embassy are corrupt and inefficient? I know for sure there are Ghanaians out there who have witness the positive side of our Embassy so please come out and voice that small positive aspect out so that this negative image we are trying to portray would reduce a little bit if not completely. There is one thing I would like to draw our attention to with regard to all these comments they are all negative criticisms without any positive suggestion. Please let us all try to criticise and at the same time try to suggest how best our Embassy can work to our satisfaction. Criticizing and suggesting the closure of our Embassy is to me a utopia because we all know that would never happen. Finally to cut the long story short let us try and voice out the positive side of the Embassy and also criticize with positive suggestions so that we can develop and move forward.

This similar problem is all over Ghana Embassies worldwide. Because there's no institution monitoring their jobs after been appointed to such level! So they do whatever they like. They're there as service officials, Not business men/women. But they've turned the service into business.
As government official, they must work 8 hours a day and 5 days per week. But some work just (3 hour a day) whiles the government is paying them 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
A citizen will be having problem calling the office of the Embassy, and no one to answer !
Really Shameful and sad !
Sometimes I just wonder what exactly they're there for?
We all know that normal Passport fee in Ghana is less than 25 dollars; whiles express fee is less that 50 dollars. But they take 0VER 200 dollars for just normal time passport renewal.
Below are some passport fees per Country:
Ghana Embassy in the USA:
Passport renewal: $ 130
Lost passport: $230
Ghana Embassy in China:
Passport renewal: $ 221
Lost passport: $221
Ghana Embassy in Italy:
Passport renewal: €200
Lost passport: €200
Ghana Embassy in Britain:
Passport renewal: £110
Lost passport: £160
Ghana Embassy in Germany:
Passport renewal: EUR 120+ 30
Lost passport: EUR 190+30
Ghana Embassy in Japan:
Passport renewal: 22,600 + 4,800 Yen application form.
that is:226.9 + 48.2 USD
Lost passport: 421.8 + 48.2 USD
Ghana Embassy in Canada:
Passport renewal: $112. + $28 application form.
Lost passport: $224 + $28.
The question here is:
1) Are these prices given to them by the Government of Ghana?
2) Are these monies accountable to the Government of Ghana?
3) Why are they taken all these monies but not given the citizenry timely, required, Specified Quality services ??
4) Are they there to SERVE US or there to SUCK OUR BLOOD ?
In fact, the Ministry of foreign affairs must come out and explain.
Fellow Ghanaian,
We must speak-up the truth and save the IMAGE of our Country !

I would like to agree with the comments made by the author of the original post. I have had to deal with the Ghanaian embassy in Berlin for the past month in order to obtain a visa to go to Ghana. I struggle to think of a time when I have been treated more rudely. Once you get through to the embassy on the phone, after hours of trying, they speak very rudely to you. I got the same treatment when I went to the embassy in person. In particular, one lady in the visa section is incredibly rude and verging on aggressive each time she speaks to you. I was applying for a visa in order to go voluntary work in Ghana, and it would have been nice to have been welcomed by the representatives of Ghana in Germany, instead of being treated with contempt. I can only hope that these people are not representative of Ghana itself!
