It would have been helpful for the author to mention the alleged biased distribution of positions in favor of northerners in the current administration; For Kwesi atta's information, here is the list major cabinets: Chief of Staff; Volta region, the minister of foreign Affairs- central region, Finance- Eastern region, Education- Ashanti region, Agriculture- Volta region, Health Greater Accra. Local Government, Ashanti region, Road and Transport- Upper-West Region; Energy- Western ;Defence= Upper=East; Where are the biased appointments that are supposed to be dominated by northerners?. You needed to educate yourself before spewing out your tribal tendencies in this article which are clearly in bad taste. For your information, Spio Garbrah has not studied economics but communication. The president has the right to choose who he feels can help in his agenda. Your article is in bad taste and you should come again.

I see you were busy lying in wait for the NPP to be declared winner hence the delay in your suggestions. You congratulate Kuffour and redicules the same regime he led for their greed and mismanagement.

The reign of the Ntafuors has began, and our dear country is in for a big surprise. These peppefours who ran the government, what makes you think they will develop the nation; just look at their backyards in northern and upper regions and tell me if you really believe they can deliver? Ghanaians, just shut up and reap the whirlwind and let the Ntafuors reign.

Ashantis are the dominant tribe and has total control of most of Ghana. So the state of Ghana is a direct reflection of their ineptitude,a rare PEPE Presidency or not.

Kwesi,
I share your concerns about the apparent mediocrity in governance we have witnessed since the NDC took back power under Mills. Yes, The NPP was certainly very corrupt but they thought large and were bold in governance. And they somehow delivered. I attribute that to sacking key persons and putting their own pple at their places, something Mills failed to do to the chagrin of JJ (and myself, btw).
Unlike you, I am absolutely in support appointing only NDC supporters and even pple we never heard of before into his administration. Has Nduom not played the role of political prostitute (PP) enough, and u want him in Mills bed too.:-) Ha! ba! I was most disappointed those then CPP members accepted posts in the Kufour's farcical regime and aligned themselves to the NPP in Parliament and became the chief defenders of the wrongs of the NPP. That was the death knell for the CPP and the thrashing of the Nkrumaist tradition! No true Nkrumaists should ever accept posts in either the NDC or NPP regime if the Nkrumaist tradition is to be revived!
And I don't think Kofi Annan needs to be appointed to be an advisor. And are former Presidents not const'nally members of the Council of State?
Also, it is true that Mahama has appointed a lot more Ministers from the 3 northern regions than any previous govt but if you take the large number of ethnic groups from the North, you'd realise that some are just getting the chance to be Ministers from their ethnic groups for the first time! I think only one Gonja from Mahama's own ethnic group was appointed. Gonjas are even pissed with him. Man! I guess many people throw the label "tribalism" at things which are not tribalistic too much! Years back on Okyeame, I had to scan and submit Colin Leys' definition and explanation of what is regarded as tribalism in Africa, in order to enlighten forumers there. Check his book "Underdevt in Kenya" for that.
Anyway, I can't comment on everything you've written, so I'd leave it as it is.

You speak like someone who is really intelligent. I wish that someone will take your advice and choose leaders who are leaders of expertise. Leaders who will be from different parties and will represent the people. It is about time we as a people stop making promises we cannot keep. It is best to make the promise then keep them. You are right also about Spio Garbrah, i was hoping he would have been inclusive in this government. It probably is tearing him apart. Then you talked about having former Presidents as part of the council of state. I think that is a fabulous idea. Government should be for the people truly and to reach this end we need a diverse and expert group of men and women of the highest calibre like the fervency of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the zeal of visionary leaders. Of course the course of a nation does not change at once, but the tendency of change can and must be implanted in people's minds. Wa ye adea (you have done well).

I do disagree, however, that you need to be have been in goverment for a long time to gain experience. You can be young, inexperienced and yet be a great leader. Most of these ministerial posts bore down to the individual possessing some degree of COMMON SENSE REALLY.

What have they done with your money for all these years? Have they been transparent? What have you done about it ? Are you angry because you did not get a share or you are concerned that it will lead your organization and community down? Think twice before you answer these questions fairly just understand that this is not northren or southern issue. Its a canker in our mist and removing it is difficult because we just fight to be part of the problem and not for a real solution!

You wrote a nice article but negated it with the mention of Spio Garbrah. What do you see in him.Spio Garbrah when he was appointed as a minister of education by ex presid Rawlins repeated the songs by his predecessor prof Ameyaw Akumfi - change of academic calender just for the education sector to feel his presence. What innovation does the change of academic calender brings to the education sector aside from putting uncalled for and unnecessary pressure and stress on Teachers and Students. As an example if you change the name of Ghana Standard Board to Food And Drugs Administration and or Secondary School to High School, what have you done. -nothing-. You've only wasted the Tax payers money which paid your salaries at the end of of the month. To be continued.
