Nduom Stays Positive In Chicago

The Convection Peoples Party (CPP) Leader, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom carried his message of Positive Change to “Obama Town” during the recent Ghanafest celebrations. Dr. Nduom refers to his political mantra as, “CHANGE you can feel in your pocket, with strong passion. He informed the gathering that the CPP is the only political party to disclose its manifesto to the electorate. Dr. Nduon used the opportunity to unveil his ten point positive change agenda at a reception held in his honor by Reverend Dr. Herbert B. Martin, at the South Side of Chicago.

Dr Nduom attended the reception with his wife, Mrs. Yvonne Nduom. Other attendees were The Publisher of the African Spectrum and his wife, Mr. and Mrs.

Berko Akoto, Mr. Chuck Bowens, former Special Assistant to the Mayor of Chicago, Mr. Alex Gbayee, Liberia Consular in the Midwest, Mr. John Abbeyea, community leader and member of the CPP, George Asiedu, member of Citizens for Change in Ghana and many CPP sympathizers. Dr Nduom promised to reduce the size of Government created by the NPP. “I will reduce the size of government and make it more proficient. I will give direct support to the Ghanaian private sector with money, technical advice, tax incentives and ensuring that those who invest have a market. I will fight corruption by making the Office of the Attorney General independent from the Ministry of Justice to remove the influence of politicians. I will give the nation back to the people by ensuring that they elect their own District Chief Executives and all members of the Assembly. I will strengthen Parliament by working to remove the constitutional provision that allows Ministers of State to serve as Parliamentarians and give the legislature the resources they need. I will build an inter-region highway to open up the entire country to development ant investment. I will implement solutions to meet the basic needs of the people for good drinking water, electricity, safe roads, stardardised quality schools and healthy communities throughout the country.

I will encourage Ghanaians Abroad by establishing a Homecoming Secretariat to assist them to buy land, build houses, compete for job opportunities, invest and bring their hard-earned assets to Ghana.” He pensively told his audience. With soft but trustworthy voice, Dr. Nduom promised to run a campaign devoid of insults and mudslinging. “I am running a positive campaign. Ghanaians know the conditions they live in. What the people need is hope and a leader who will give them solutions to their problems. They need someone who will preside over government to implement solutions with a sense of urgency and diligence. I believe that I am that person. My track record in government and the private sector backs this up. I believe in inclusiveness and using the best people we have to achieve great results for all Ghanaians in the shortest possible time. I know how government can be used for the good of the people and in the national interest. I will change politics of hate and vindictiveness that tears our people apart and rewards people willing to play extreme partisan games to politics of hope for all of our people.” Dr Nduom told his attentive audience. Unlike most politicians, Dr. Nduom took questions directly from the audience without screening the questions. He gave candid answers to all the questions thrown at him admirably. After many years of failure to re-capture political leadership in Ghana since the overthrow of its renowned leader and the visionary first President of Ghana , and a Revered Pan Africanist, Osagyefo Dr.Kwame Nkrumah, the CPP now has its brightest chance in Dr. Nduom to take back the reins of government. With the renovation of the Flaggstaff House by the current government, Dr. Nduom would make history if he leads the CPP back to power in 2009 because Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the first and last Ghanaian President to use the historic landmark as the official seat of Government.

At the Ghanafest grounds in Chicago,Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, and Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama, presidential candidate and Flagbearer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) displayed a lot of maturity and goodwill when they warmly shook hands to dispel any notions that the recent ill-fated merger of their parties might affect their personal relationship.
