All set for The Mother of all Picnics in New York

The world watched with excitement the images of Ghanafest showcasing Ghanaian culture and featured notable personalities. New York is also preparing to host another big event; The mother of all picnics at the beautiful Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Connecticut on Saturday, August 9, 2008. And for the first time ever Adepa Radio will be covering the event live. Folks would have the opportunity of sending greetings or messages to loved ones and friends back home in Ghana and around the world.

As noted earlier, this event would be a Family Day, Health and Educational Expo. This year's picnic also features an exposition on sports, culture, health and education. There will be various competitive activities such as a soccer, volleyball tournament, tug of war competition with trophies presented to the winning teams.

Various state universities and institutions of higher learning will be on hand to provide admission and financial aid information. Doctors on the Hudson and Ghanaian Nurses Association will also be on hand to provide free health screening to all.

Additionally, there will be Ghanaian Cultural Extravaganza! The great Okyeremah Asante and his ensemble will be in attendance. A taste of Ghana combined with traditional drumming and youth performances.
