A 52-year-old woman, Monica Afua Forkuo, has reportedly died after being struck with a pavement block by a tenant in her family house at Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region.

According to the deceased’s uncle, Asamoah Kusi, the incident occurred on Sunday, August 31, 2025, following a heated exchange between Monica and the tenant, Osam Afriyie, over a misunderstanding.

He explained that Monica had left home to attend a funeral and, upon returning that night, was confronted by the tenant, who then attacked her with the pavement block.

She was rushed to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“Apparently, when my sister returned, she was unaware that the suspect was approaching her while she was talking on the phone. The suspect picked up a pavement block and threw it at my sister, hitting the left side of her neck, causing a tear and swelling. She fell and, in her pain, shouted, ‘You have killed me,’” Asamoah told By Grace TV in a YouTube interview.

Describing the tenant as troublesome, Asamoah said the family had previously attempted to evict her but relented after Monica’s pleas.

“That was her character. Unfortunately, I am not a psychiatrist to determine her state of mind. It is alleged that she even beats her own mother. She is a very notorious character.

“She fought me over an electricity bill, and I threatened to evict her. Her response was that the people in this house should prepare for my corpse if I dared evict her,” he added.

Asamoah noted that the suspect has been arrested and detained by the Asokore Mampong police, pending investigation and possible prosecution.

He urged the state to ensure justice for the death of Monica, a mother of five.
