What is supposed to be an ordinary boxing match is becoming an arena for the so-called "prophets" to desperately seek to advertise themselves as they line up behind one boxer or the other. Why would Opambour not modestly tell Bukom Banku that he's praying for him - and of course, praying for Ayitey Powers also that God's holy will may be done in their lives. What's important in their lives must not be the outcome of the match but their salvation in Christ. That's what should concern a true prophet. But some Ghanaian "prophets" are hell-bent seeking totally to enthrall their poor victims, binding them to themselves, first and foremost - because given the way they approach things, Christ is very far from them but they cannot see because they are blinded by their quest for popularity and ultimately for riches. How many poor people in the street is he inviting to come to him in Kumasi? On May 2, when the match takes place, what will happen? Is it God taking sides with one fighter and his supporting "prophet" against the other? Let's give God a clean job to do. Too much anarchy!
After the match, it will be time for the winning "prophet" to say, "Now bring your purse." When such "prophets" smell blood, they know how to get to it. Pambour has set his trap. Bukom Banku will be walking into it when he responds to his invitation to go to Kumasi. Meanwhile the "prophet" is waiting, licking his chaps. But I will advise Bukom Banku to pray to his Christ who loves him and keep training as he knows how and not go anywhere to be anyone's slave. Choose to remain free in Christ for "It is for freedom that Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be hindered again by a yolk of slavery" (Gal.5:1). If you choose to go then you may stay in his in Kumasi forever. There are churches in Accra, too. Our Christ is everywhere and not in any prophet's house or city. On your own free will, find a good church that preaches salvation in Christ if you don't already belong to one. If you do, the prayers of the members and the pastor there will be enough. Seek in your heart to love God by loving your neighbour and taking care of the poor and helpless for His name's sake. Victory comes from God and is never sanctioned by any earthly being. Never fear, for "There is no fear in love" (1 John 4:18). "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Rom.8:31).
We, as Christians, are praying for you and Ayitey Powers, both beloved children of God, that everything go peacefully for you, that each of you keep seeing it as a game, a sport between brothers and that what is more important in life is not the outcome of this match but your walk with our Beautiful God and His Christ, our Lord.
Please, fear no man. Amen.
