Kenkey delivery delayed as officers demand permit from restaurant operator

A dispatch rider on his way to get some kenkey for the restaurant he works for, had to spend over two hours at a security checkpoint in one of the locked-down areas as officers demanded a permit for his operations.

This is according to the owner of the restaurant who rushed to the scene after receiving a call from the rider.

The lady by name Eliza Olympio who shared a video of the incident on facebook, said she showed the officers her ID card to prove she was a restaurant operator but they still demanded for a permit before they allow the rider continue his journey.

“This is my ID, when the Information Minister addressed the media last Sunday, he said that all restaurants that are exempted must create their staff ID. Under the circumstances there are no printing houses. This is my Jamrock ID. We only do takeaway and that is what we are mandated to do.”

She added that a customer had demanded a ball of kenkey with fish for over two hours and the unfolding events will result in her losing more money when business was already bad due to the partial lockdown directive.

“There is an order for one kenkey and fish and it’s been two hours. The customer will not understand how after two hours I have still not supplied their kenkey and fish.”

“If anybody knows of a permit that you must have before you can get your dispatch rider to move please someone should send it to me right now because my veins are about to burst. My business is collapsing right now, and I have one order for kenkey and fish for two hours and my dispatch rider is held here for two hours because his ID is not enough” she cried.

After waiting for some more time the dispatch rider was allowed to continue his journey, but the business owner, Eliza Olympio, was still not happy.

“Everyone is frustrated… tell us all to shutdown and go home,” she said as she walked to her car
