Calls for resignation of CID Boss unfair, she did all a mother could do for us – Families of Takoradi girls

The families of the now-deceased Takoradi girls have dissociated themselves from calls by some Ghanaians for the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah to resign for the role she played during investigations into the kidnap of the four girls, ABC News can report

According to some members of the Koranchie and Bentum families, but for the regular calls and support from the camp of the CID Boss, they may not have been able to handle the situation.

Speaking to Starrfm.com.gh, Isaac Ackon, cousin of Priscilla Bentum said blaming the CID Boss for the rather unfortunate demise of the girls will be unfair. He maintains that calls for the resignation of Madam Addo-Danquah are ill informed and lack merit.

“The truth is one. I’m saddened that one person is being unfairly blamed for what has happened. Whoever is pushing for her resignation is being misinformed. We are just sensational in this country, we rather target people for nothing and when we are asked to prove we fumble. Whatever she ought to do she did it, she has been calling us, checking up and help us in every way possible. As a mother, she did everything she could for us. We are targeting her unfairly, it is nonsensical for people to ask her to go, I will stand with her any day,” he stated.

Philip Koranchie, who is also a brother to the first missing girl added, “She was calling my father all the time. She has been helpful indeed. People don’t know what she was doing behind the scenes”.

The CID boss, after an announcement by the Acting Inspector General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh, on Monday, confirming the death of the girls after DNA tests, has come under severe criticisms as pressure mounts on her to resign and apologize over the way and manner in which the case was handled. Many particularly blame her for giving ‘false hope’ to the families of the then kidnapped girls. But families of the girls disagree with the narrative.
