Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor is entreating media practitioners, particularly, investigative journalists who expose corrupt public officials to be fair and accurate in their reportage.

He maintains that the essential purpose of journalism is to seek information, verify, digest and report the news objectively.

Owing to the fallible nature of man, Mr. Kufuor says journalists, who in their course of work err and misreport must be humble and apologize to the persons involved for defaming them.

Speaking at the official launch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) 70th anniversary in Accra, the former President stated that, journalists who refuse to render an unqualified apology must be made to face the music as their attitude will dent the image of the GJA.

He further stated that it is crucial for the GJA President, together with his executives to monitor its members and ensure the rights of people and government as a whole are not violated.
