The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has attributed the NDC’s loss during the 2016 elections to their failure to build their policies around the needs of the Ghanaian people.

He stated that the entire NDC party right from the leadership to the grassroots is responsible for the loss.

Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show, Mr. Ade Coker said some of the polices implemented by government was not exactly what the people of Ghana needed.

“When there is disaffection through government policies, you can have the magic wand; you will not win the elections.”

According to him, the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange for instance, is a good project, but there were other pressing needs that should have been attended to.

“We were depending on infrastructure development which was massive, but if the people are telling you that they cannot pay their electricity bills, they can’t have three square meals, those are the basic needs of the people,” Mr. Ade Coker told Sunrise Host, Winston Amoah.

He said some of the infrastructural developments and policies did not inure to the benefit of the Ghanaian people.

Mr. Ade Coker noted that issues of unemployment amongst other social problems confronting the people should have been better dealt with.

He said the government should have focused more on social interventions rather than infrastructural development.

“You can go on a campaign to this Nursing Training Schools, and you see hostility because probably we said we were not going to pay their allowances,” Mr. Ade Coker said.

He said the NDC government deviated from tailoring its policies around what the Ghanaian people needed.

According to him, the NPP had an edge over the NDC because they focused on presenting messages tailored around what the ordinary Ghanaian wanted.

He, however, noted that the NDC is embarking on a restructuring campaign to correct their errors and emerge victorious come 2020.
