The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has claimed that Ghana’s former ambassador to Dubai, Daniel Osei, takes Tramadol.

According to him, it explains why Osei recently ‘attacked’ Former President John Mahama. In recent comments that went viral, Osei reportedly said that Mahama is greedy, and lacks the knowledge to lead the NDC.

He further stated that Mahama’s bad governance forced the party into opposition after the 2016 elections.

In his opinion, Former President Mahama was drunk and unable to personally inform the party of his intentions to contest in the December 2018 flagbearership race.

That, he revealed, was the reason why Ghana’s former ambassador to the United States of America, Ohene Agyekum, had to pick the forms on his behalf.

Reacting to the comments, Allotey Jacobs stated that the former diplomat is on Tramadol, and that accounts for his outburst.

“Mahama couldn’t go to the headquarters because Council of Leaders around him advised him not to go but rather send people to submit the letter on his behalf so for an NDC member to make these claims against a former president is an indication of his influence from tramadol abuse. I think he is on tramadol and needs to be checked,” he said.

On Thursday, August 23, 2018, Mahama announced his interest in contesting as a flagbearer to lead the NDC into the 2020 elections.
