  Mr. Terkper, how can Ghanaians so soon forget ERP/SAP in the 80s under Rawlings' PNDC? It was the time when the IMF became the de facto Ministry of Finance; a period when Ghana's budget was prepared by IMF technocrats in Washington and parachuted it to Accra without any Ghanaian input. Yes, Seth Terkper, it was memorable indeed. Special thanks also to the ignoble Kwesi Botchwey, another useless Ghana Finance Minister and IMF lackey under whose watch the blood sucking IMF took the country to the cleaners.
  
  While Lee Kuan Yew singlehandedly transformed his country his country from a third world country to a first world in one generation, we in Africa are mortgaging our countries to the parasitic IMF with dire consequences.
  
  People like Seth Terkper have no shame to suggest Ghana must continue to tie its knots with the blood sucking parasitic IMF. It is the IMF that forced the Rawlings' PNDC to devalue the cedi and after the cedi was devalued pressured Rawlings to sell over 300 of Nkrumah's state-owned enterprises (SOEs) at the devalued cedi to mainly foreigners under the guise of SAP/ERP
  
  It is this same IMF suckers that lured the perfidious JA Kufuor into accepting HIPC. The stupid and senseless HIPC in the end cost the country Ashanti Goldfields Ltd., and later Ghana Telecom, all sold to British companies; Anglogold and Vodafone. How stupid and complete idiots can our leaders continue to be! Seth Terkper should know by now there is no free lunch anywhere in the world, and dealing with the IMF has never been cheap for the country. The IMF always get what they want from the corrupt and brainless political leaders.
  
  To hell with IMF; Ghana will survive without this blood sucking parasitic IMF beast. It is time these buffoons at the helm used their heads for a change. Enough of the IMF nonsense!!!

  This is typical among the so called "higher educated" who are at the helm of mismanaging the nation's resources and economy.
  
  Ghanaians must therefore come to terms with real world options for the national economy to go in another direction than advised by the IMF: A NATIONAL REFERENDUM ON BORROWING should be called at this point.
  
  The voice of the people must speak directly into the ears of the ministry responsible for the economy.

  Econometrics is about equations and statistics. People don't eat those. Real economics is about ensuring that wealth is efficiently produced (locally) and righteously distributed.

  Is this something feasible in a globalised world economy? What are the possible drawbacks of doing this? Please give us your comments.
  
  For some of us, it just seems most sensible that a gold producer should be using a gold standard monetary system. Again, Mr. Terkper, give us your comments. Can Ghana's leaders perform the successful rollout of a new monetary regime?
