You cannot be serious if you see anything worthwhile from professional associations such as Ghana Journalists and GBA. The truth is we suffer under tyrannical rule in Ghana because of the GBA and the media houses in Ghana which provide cover and legitimacy to crooked governments, officials and policy.
First of all, there are two useful tasks that Ghana's public desire of the collective media; inform and where necessary give us the simple truth that does not pass through the NPP and NDC coloured prisms. There is no media house in Ghana that is not staffed with cheerleaders from the NPP or NDC while masquerading as journalists. So as the Ghana media houses have not lived up to basic reasons for their very existence so has the Bar Association not lived up to the elitist pecking order they think they deserve from us common folks. When the NPP government of Nana Akufo-Addo, a supposed and presumed brilliant legal mind by Ghana standards, engage in the illegal firing/displacement of civil servants without cause and increase the size of government without associated newly discovered revenue sources it is the GBA which is supposed to explain government actions, with the Ghana Constitution as backdrop, to the dumb voters we are so we can appreciate what the Nana Akufo-Addo government derive it's powers to summarily dismiss civil servants or expand the civil service staffing. Instead we get a GBA that are nothing more than tribal extensions of NPP and NDC collection of tribal wing nuts we call political parties.
Let me give card-carrying members of the GBA a basic comparative analysis that they ought to be doing. There are legions of Martin Amidu fans in Ghana who think a Gh51 million cedis judgement against Woyome is worthy of his vigilantism but he stays deaf and dumb on what the Nana Akufo-Addo administration is doing that costs the government and tax paying public 10 times more. What does the GBA think is the cost to government and tax payers with the displacement of 10 regional directors of the Youth Employment Agency, the replacement consultants, the displaced civil service directors at the YEA head office in Accra and their replacements annually? Is it not Nana Akufo-Addo as AG who prosecuted Tsatsu Tsikata for the presumed causing financial loss to the state? From where I sit I have more common sense in my toe than the collective common sense capabilities of the GBA membership. All they have to do is engage in comparative financial or legal analysis of government actions and policy actions on society and stop the dog whistling.

It amuses me sometimes when I read articles from the "rented press" of the Ndc especially when they start talking about the unprecedented development. They always refuse to tell us the gargantuan amount they squandered for that. From 9.5 billion Ghana Cedis to 122 billion in just eight years. My youngest daughter could have done much better to uplift the sordid state of the Ghanaian economy if she was given such colossal amount. And they're not learning that Ghanaians saw through their deceit and rejected them. I can foresee them in opposition for a very long time.
