I don't think the creation of the region is tribal or ethnic. But if a new name can be given, I am all for it. Let's not shout wolf where there is none.

Yes, There were the COLONY, ASANTE and the NORTHERN. These could have easily constituted the Federal State looking at their histories.

Some of us are baffled at the inconsistencies in the argument presented. We see an "anti-Balkanising " and an "ethnic-isolationist" stance generally. Then, suddenly "President Nkrumah did a good job by creating the Brong Ahafo Region"! Indeed? From the logic of your arguments, Nkrumah rather started the Balkanising. Asante was the current Ashanti, the Brong Ahafo and even some parts of the Western Region. Nkrumah for political reasons "CARVED-IN" an intransigent Ashanti to have his peace. It was never really for any administrative reasons. Otherwise, the "FEDERALIST" plate from Asante would have been acceptable. The rude realisation is the tinkering with a so-called "DECENTRALISATION" agenda that is hardly working! The lame reasons of Ghana being a small country is defeated by several examples world-wide and by our own insincere decentralisation stand. The powers that be want to hold on to absolute power, period!

John must we revisit what happened 58 years back? We are talking about collective Ghana now. Not Ahafos against the Brongs. The writer did a great job!Nkrumah did that because he saw Asantes and Brongs as one people.

So John What is your point here. Are you saying Federalism is what you opined for? Even if Nkrumah carved -In to rebuke the intransigent Ashanti, Have you thought about the effect this will have on the country over 50yrs or so after this was done? I don't think this attempt to divide on purely tribal lines is the way forward

What is wrong with it? Volta region is multi-ethnic and it has some ethnic clashes on land issues. Ashanti region has one ethnic group and they don't have such issues. So maybe creating region along ethnic lines is not such a bad idea. We are all within Ghana irrespective of the region one belongs to so what is the big deal. Besides, if it was ok for Jerry and Nkrumah to do it, why is wrong with Akuffo doing it too? Or is it because an Akyem man from a supposed Asante party is the one doing the partition this time so it is a no no?

In TRUTH THE TARGET OF MR. AKUFO ADDO's POLICY is The Volta Region. But he could not do it without being accused of TRIBALISM.
Satan knows THE PLAN OF THE ALMIGHTY, GOD, and knows the STRENGTH of GHANAIANS AS A PEOPLE, INSTEAD OF TRIBE.
TRIBALISM is a BRAINCHILD OF SATAN TO DIVIDE , AND WEAKEN A PEOPLE, AND THEREFORE ULTIMATELY DESTROY THEM AS THEIR STRENGTH IS WEAKENED !
Akufo Addo thought it wise to ADD OTHER REGIONS to it as a policy, so as to hide his intent, and make it all look like a NATIONAL REGIONAL CREATION.
On the SPIRITUAL side of things, it is not Mr. Akufo Addo. But he is being used . The TRUTH is ,he is NOT strong in The Almighty , God Jehovah.
So, Satan found him to use so as to DERAIL the SECOND PLAN OF THE ALMIGHTY , GOD TO LIBERATE AFRICA, AND HER PEOPLE !
IT IS A PLAN IN HEAVEN TO LAUNCH GOD'S PLAN , AND SATAN GOT TO KNOW IT EVEN BEFORE GOD'S PROPHETS.
Mr. Akufo Addo won the election as The Almighty , God's REWARD for EXPOSING The GITMO PRISONERS with STRANGE GODS that Satan sent THROUGH MR. JOHN MAHAMAH [ former President, whom God removed from power }TO OPPOSE GOD,S PLAN.
GHANA IS THE ALMIGHTY , GOD'S CREATION to lead Africa, NOT AS A DOMINANT POWER ,BUT for ALL OF AFRICA'S CHILDREN TO EITHER RETURN ON THEIR OWN, OR OFFSET THE PSYCHOLOGICALLY INDEPTH PAIN OF SLAVERY !
The Almighty , God is involved in the situation in Ghana .
Iam glad it is NOT AN EWE PERSON WRITING THIS ARTICLE. Since Satan has found it VERY CONVENIENT TO USE TRIBE AS A DIVIDING TOOL TO DIVIDE AND CREATE ENMITY BETWEEN THE TWO MAJOR SET PEOPLE , THE ASHANTIS AND EWES

Great article! However, it seems the forces that want Ghana tribalised are in the ascendancy and doubt if that could be halted. You will see more people thinking along tribal lines as they perceive others to be receiving favourable treatment. Any time a dignatory or important visitor to the nation is taken to Manyia our cohesion weakens leading to folks wanting their own indegenes to hold positions like MCEs etc in their indigenous areas. Africans never learn
