We will still visit Tongo shrines again - NPP Chairman

The Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah insists party executives will visit the Tongo Shrines if the need arises.

He also stated that the party had no regrets visiting the Tindana during the Talensi by-election and will go show appreciation to him or any religious leader if need be.

Reacting to claims that the NPP engaged in various voodoo acts for which reason there are deaths through accidents and suicides in the country, he questioned if same could be said about the infamous Kwame Nkrumah Circle disaster and if the former president also engaged in voodoo.

“If you visit an area, you are expected to abide by their customs and traditions. We were in Tongo for an election and went to visit the Tindana and per their traditions, we were required to take off our shirts does that amount to voodoo or rituals”, he asked.

The NPP chairman said those who visited the Tindana had no regrets taking off their shirts and will do that again and again anytime they visit the Tongo Shrines.

He also discounted claims the party is neck-deep in voodoo practices stating that he personally abhors promises and therefore will not go promising human lives to a shrine in return for power.

“We won the elections based on the policies and programmes we promised Ghanaians we will implement and they bought into it. That has no link to the recent unfortunate deaths we are recording in the country”, he explained.
