Hmmmm!
We have a Tribal Political Democracy in Ghana and to a large extend Africa.
People who vehemently criticized the past NDC Gov for the size of it's lean Gov appointments, are suddenly stone deaf on this huge drain appointments by this NPP Gov.
We are all going to suffer the consequences if only we keep these hypocritical behavior based on tribal leanings.
It appears nobody cares for the downtrodden anymore based on our tribal affiliations.
Whoever is blindly supporting this Gov based on tribal reasons, should bury their heads in shame!
Sycophancy will never help anybody if we abrogate the truth.
And always remember that, there are consequences for whatever we do in our lives.

This essay by 2 people, Ken Atta-Boakye, and his son who is "a senior economic analyst working within the US Government’s Federal Executive branch" is uncritically euphoric, "Trumpian", if you ask us.
In fact, the essay is so gung-ho on Akufo Addo it loses balance, and thus critical perspective.
Are we supposed to believe that in fact, "The NDC previous budget allocation of GHc 16.5m with 82 ministries compared with NPP budget allocation of GHc16.0m with 110 ministries"?
Where are those figures from?
If the 82, now 110, "ministries" represent the entire government, from whence do we get "GHc 16.5m", or of "GHc 16.0m", for any year? Even using an exchange rate factor of 4, that gives us just about $4 million, any year. Does it take $4 million to run the "ministries" a month, a quarter, a year?
And how do we even get "the impression of efficiency and prudent spending"?
How much has been spent thus far to arrive at prudence and efficiency?
HERE ARE NUMBERS FOR GHANA's BUDGET (2016 vs 2017)
Ghana Budget 2016: Revenue: total expenditure, including provision made for the clearance of arrears and outstanding commitments in 2016 is estimated at GH¢46,445.7 million, equivalent to 29.3 percent of GDP. (Total Revenues: Ghc38,038.1M(24% of GDP))
2017: 49. Mr. Speaker, total expenditures (incl. outstanding obligations) amounted to GH¢51.1 billion at end-December 21 2016....Resource Allocation for 2017: 73. Mr. Speaker, total expenditure, including provision made for the clearance of arrears and outstanding commitments in 2017 is estimated at GH¢58.1 billion, equivalent to 28.6 percent of GDP. The estimated expenditure for the year represents a 13.7 percent increase over the provisional out turn for 2016.
READ: "...According to him ("a senior economic analyst working within the US Government’s Federal Executive branch"), two issues are at stake – the political side and the already existing lazy civil service."
WE SAY: How, pray-tell-us, is the whole category of Ghana civil service "lazy"? What does that mean? Does that address corruption by politicians and their effect? Does that address the idea that even "energetic" civil servant require training? Does that address the fact that remuneration may be low, considering what the politicians are awarding to themselves, including their tax free incomes and benefits?
Do we address issues of "civil service" energy by increasing the number of MPs?
READ: "...The civil service is an institution that has nothing to do with the out-going and the in-coming governments. ..".
WE SAY: Maybe the problem has to do with the particular way this statement is written. We just can't make head or tail about that one.
THEN THIS:
The new NPP government, he (the son) said, appears ready to bet the entire future of the NPP party and its political prospects on the proposition that Ghana has the competence and the capacity to turn the tide of mediocrity and corruption that has bedeviled our remarkable history.
WE SAY: Remarkable, indeed!
But, it take a critical mind the know and appreciate "the history" of the NPP and the history of Ghana.
Peace, we must say!
Over!

As I said in my response to Okoampa Ahoofe, see,"Parliament can stop Cabinet Appointments run amuck" (2017-03-20), t I have not been impressed by how the President has managed his interpersonal, informational, and decisional roles. He is spending excessive amount of time defending his ministerial appointments rather than managing his presidency.
Brother Ken Atta Boakye, you failed to show objectivity in your article. You & your son were too biased.

Mr. Boachie, I strongly agree with your article. The end will definitely justify the means. This is a prudent government which not only has Ghanaian at heart but also believe that, there should be value for money. At the end of the day, if Nana's government is unable to deliver, the same corrupt NDCs and their cohort will hold him accountable. Leave Nana alone to do his best in the circumstances.
