Thank you! I am glad someone like you is closely following the trail of political promises for better Environment to pressure our Authorities to do the right thing once again.
A few of us have long been hammering home the necessity to cleanse our Cities and Towns and Villages of the stinking morass of thrash and feces that has been drowning us over the decades past. As much as we like bragging about how great our Nation is, we have had difficulty keeping up our Hygiene both in and out of our residence.
Surely, the "Tankase and Nsamansaman" (The Town Council Workers and Sanitary Inspectors) Bureaucracy seemed to have 'morphed' into the Environmental Health outfit but the name enhancement hasn't lived up to our expectations of better services to the People.
The chronic filth around our Cities has always been a major Health hazard and barrier to tourism expansion. Many of us still wonder why Ghana has still not undertaken building subterranean culverts to better manage drainage, leaving our Towns and Cities vulnerable to floods that wash our shame of tons of thrash down our Streets and from open gutters.
We still have not embarked upon comprehensive modern Wastewater Treatment and Management that befits any Middle-Income-Status Nation either. It makes mockery of our claim to have attained that level of advancement. Zoom Lion alone cannot do much. We need to device a new means of encouraging a joint Public and Private Investment into building our Environmental Health Structures.
We have to enact stricter Laws to improve our Environmental Health, immediately begin to plan and construct modern subterranean Drainage network systems, and Wastewater Treatment Plants for all Towns and Cities.
The days of open defecation on our Beaches must be a thing of the past. And we need proper modern Dumpsters where Recycling would be the rule and ultimate goal.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Effective education on sanitation requires a certain trusty 'companion' in the form of corporal punishment and heavy fines. Media campaigns will not successfully 'indoctrinate' our folks positively, but the whip will. Who, though, among these ineffectual 'politricksters' has the will, vision and courage to effect real change?
Good piece though. Shows some are thinking outside the box.
