"Is the Ghanaian leadership truly capable of sustainable—rather than cosmetic—change, of patriotically loving the nation and its beautiful, hardworking masses without a creeping sense of moral equivocation"?
Kwarteng, tell us the meaning of this nonsense! ...don't forget to constantly take your medication and go to bed as early as possible daily to recreate your already dented brain and as well as your entire cogitating faculty which is seriously at stake.
We are of the opinion your imbecility has confirmed your insanity.

Kabiretas SAS and Baba Farouk,
I shouldn't be surprised by your remarks, similar to giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Shame on you that you couldn't bring yourselves to appreciate the complex issues Nyebro Yao has raised in this excellent piece but rather chose to join the scumbags and low lifes that delight in stealing others names to write scurrilous and insulting things on Ghanaweb.
Yes, he touched on many issues which might appear to the undiscerning mind to be quite independent of each other and not interrelated; but they are directly and symbiotically and more.
The sytle may be said to be ecletic but it helps to capture the multitude of causes or problems that undergird the underdevt conumdrum and failure to change that is the theme of the article. What hinders change in Ghana? A whole gamut of things and Nyebro Yao captures as many as possible within this script. I love it. He didn't even miss the fake clergy and slimy snake oil sellers now hobnobbing and schmoozing with the powers that be in both the NDC and NPP.

Nyebro Yao,
Happy holidays to you and your family.
My regards to Efo Solo as well.
And as for those stealing your moniker (as well as mine, Prof Lungu, Dr. Bokor), like Adjoa Wangara, I have long ceased paying them attention.
In fact I do not write for such readers anyway, so you can rest assured that I will not read their comments let alone respond to them. Doing so will be a complete waste of my time.
Finally, your commentary on the question of internal structural symbiosis regarding the issues I explore in this article is well on point.
I do not have to explain this to any reader because it is all there in this straightforward essay.
So, those who have a problem grasping the question of thematic symbiosis may have to take a look at your comments and those of OKRO MUFF, which I do think is a difficult task.
Thanks.

In what way is the much-trumpeted "private sector as the engine of growth" commendable, given the history of the abysmal failure of its implementation by all the political entities that have come to power since 1966 but especially the NDC and NPP administrations?
Call it what you may, we have only known the most corrupt, inept, and predatory crony capitalism under the two vultures of ghanaian politics. And, of course, a crony capitalism subservient to all the neocolonial dictates of foreign powers and their exploiter companies from Vodafone to Tullow to Queiroz Galvao. P/NDC and NPP have created all the multi-millionaires and billionaires out of thin air. Nobody started with their own capital. It's either fraudulent, inflated government contracts at best or no contract judgment debt schemes a la Woyome at worst. Kennedy Adjapong, Asiedu Nketia, Mrs Rawlings, Mrs Mahama, Kwesi Botchwey (your ultimate bureaucratic capitalist) - none of them can prove hard work, the old-fashioned way made them millionaires. What employment bonanza have any of our kleptocrats brought to the nation? Are the university graduates finding jobs in the de-industrialized Ghana that Botchwey and others helped to achieve in the 90s?
Those who deserve to be commended are the struggling market women and the much-harassed street vendors who created their own jobs, with their own capital, without any bank loans or institutional support of any kind! No commendation to any crooked politician whose past record justifies none!

If history will continue to be a guide, it's gonna be a mighty rocky road for Akufo-Addo.
However, we do not think that Ghanaian society is "extremely polarized", if Donald Trump's America as an example of an "extremely polarized" society.
We agree!
There are lots of contradictions with most elements of Akufo-Addo's plan. Some of those ideas do not make sense in a Unitary Ghana, unless Akufo-Addo intends to destroy same.
So, in the coming weeks and month, we must continue to educate and challenge "the government of the day", and any propaganda machine they may seek to install.
Peace!

Kwarteng is not a professor. If he has any credibility, he'll tell commentators that he is not a professor. Although there's nothing special about being a professor, an honest person, even if he chooses to not disclose his line of work, will quickly correct any falsely assigned professional attributes.
So, Kwarteng, if you're as honest as you want us to believe, come out and tell your readers that you're not a professor, to put the false attribution to rest.
