As soon as you take the oath of office, please make sure you think about Ghana because Ghanaians are expecting some changes as per your campaign and do not expect any disappointment.

Volta Region is not the only region that lacks some basic amenities. I think during the campaign, you went to the Western region and saw the state of that region. It is considered as one of the richest regions in Ghana but they are way off the radar and the question is why?

You have won the election as the incoming president of Ghana and not the incoming president of the "Volta region" as Mills and Mahama made us to understand. Spread the development across the board else, four years down the road, the "thumbs of Ghanaians" will push you over the cliff.

Can you name a state in the USA that Obama administration pumped money into for development just so he could turn his election numbers around in 2012? How about presidents before Obama? To claim Nana Akufo-Addo is an Oxford educated, with no proof of course, and very smart, with no work record to support your assertion, and now to suggest he, Nana Akufo-Addo, will bring real development to the Volta region is to expose the innate ignorance within a party claiming to have a majority of Ghana's educated class as its members.
Ghana's tax payer monies and illogical borrowed monies are not some pocket money for Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo or anyone to spend as they wish even if voters are dumb; development should come because of need.

I wonder what Okoampa means by real development of the Volta region. If the V R is to see development to the level of say the central or western regions, it will take at least 20 years. That is how behind the VR is in relation to the other regions of Ghana. Even the relatively new regions of Upper east and west are almost at par with the VR which has been in existence since 1957. The only state industry which was set up by Nkrumah, the Juapong textiles factory collapsed several years ago. As for the road network the least said about it the better. Even the rich natives of the region including industrialist and business man Togbe Afede have brought no industry to the region, but prefer to set up businesses in Accra and elsewhere. As far as I am concerned no real development will take place in the VR under Akuffo Addo. The point is that the man in his desperate attempt to win power made so many promises most of which cannot be fulfilled in 8 years. Save yourself the trouble of being reminded 8 years from now what you have written in this article. The euphoria will die down in six months and then it will be business as usual. We have seen it all before.
