Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the governing NDC, Ade Coker has said that President John Dramani Mahama will retain power after the Electoral Commission declares the Election results.

According to Mr. Ade Coker, the results available to them shows that President Mahama is in the lead and therefore implored party supporters to ignore figures being circulated by media houses.

The NDC Greater Accra Chairman noted that the only authorised body responsible for declaring the election results is the EC.

“Per the work that we have done we believe strongly that going forward, by the time the relevant authority declares the results our figures will not be far from what they will produce and we believe that per that the president will be declared the next president for the next four years.”

There is rising tension as Ghanaians await the final election results in the just ended voting exercise from the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Provisional results emerging after yesterday’s polls suggest a lead in results by the New Patriotic Party in the Presidential category.

The Electoral Commission has delayed the official release and subsequent declaration of election results over what they describe as ‘several possible instances of over voting’ a situation that has sparked controversy in the public with many making allegations of “election rigging attempts” against the EC.
