The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised fresh concerns regarding the special voting list provided by the Electoral Commission.

It would be recalled that the NPP threatened to picket at the Commission’s headquarters last week if it refuses to release the list of special and proxy voters to them.

The party indicated that several attempts to get the list from the Commission were unsuccessful. But few days after the Commission had provided the list to the party, new concerns have been raised.

Speaking on 3FM’s Midday News, Director of Elections for the NPP, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah indicated there are inconsistencies in the list provided by the EC.

He expresses surprise the EC gave the NPP different figure in the special voting list when it had earlier mentioned sixty five thousand (65,000) in the media.

“The commission is being inconsistent and by large untruthful to us, Just a week ago when we had waited for over two weeks and were unable to get the list of proxy, special voters, transfer voters or absentee list meanwhile our opponents had it so we had to raise now”.

“Special voters list totaled sixty five thousand and one, when we got it and read through we are getting over one hundred and fourteen thousand; sixty five thousand to one hundred and fourteen.

The EC mentioned this on various network and the Commission has not denied saying so”.

According to Mr. Mensah-Korsah, the party will petition the EC on this issue in its quest to a resolve the matter.

“We are seeking to have some official engagement with the EC, this should be a concern to all contested parties. We intend to write to the Commission today (November 15) asking that this is what we have and then we further seek clarification on how the figures can change, we need to know,” he said.
