I don't think Bawumia is boastful by nature. It's the party pushing him on as their show boy. It's the party presenting him as the most brilliant economist the country has ever produced. He can't go out there and say: listen folks, I am not really the best economist in the country. That's a difficult call to make. There are many Ghanaians with PhD ineconomists. Many of them presented their theses in more prestigious institutions than I did. And many are professors in established universities abroad. You see I am just only as good as many others. This is just politics we're playing...

He can't say such things. He has to play along and do the bidding of others. It's really not bragging.

It is we Ghanaians who like to over-praise people. Many politicians in the West who have PhDs in Economics are not called Dr or Prof - not even those who won the Nobel Prize in the subject. Only in Ghana are public figures ALWAYS called Dr this or Dr that or Prof this.

Don't blame Bawumia. He's a Ghanaian - like the rest of us. It's the system.
