The learned professor seems to have chosen partisan politics over the non partisan approach to saving human lives. If the position he held was constitutionally protected from political consequences, he most likely would still be there, or at the least be fighting in the courts as Dr Nsiah-Asare of Komfo Anokye Hospital did and prevailed. But to the extent that the position he held could be influenced by political leanings, he paid for his actions.
Don't get me wrong here. The Government probably has cut its nose to spite its face, but I'm only pointing out a Machiavellian truism.

He has been a victim of ethnic Politics intruding into our Civil Service, especially the Health Administration. And it is very disheartening to see such a selfless leader with so much talent suppressed under the weight of our unwise retrogressive politics.
I have been praying since long to have the likes of Dr. Frimpong-Boateng and Dr. Bawumia team up to lead the Nation. Both have been most inspiring and eager to lead Ghana into the new Millenium with greater emphasis on better and needed Education, and well-guided Economy.
I would hope the eminent Surgeon does not give up but explore other means to infuse his great qualities in improving human conditions into our Nation's quest for development.
Long Live Ghana!!!

2. Prof. Boateng had to leave his position because per the civil service and public service regulatory ACT, once a public officer stood for a political position he must relinquish his post.

I REMEMBER PAYING GLOWING TRIBUTE TO OSAGYEFO DR KWAME NKRUMAH WHEN HE ARRIVED IN GHANA AFTER HIS LONG STY IN GERMANY. I THINK THAT IS THE "POLITICAL SIN" HE COMMITTED AT A TIME WHEN NPP WERE IN POWER.
