The don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that UPSA is on a mission to destroy the academia. In this very article they said Prof. Oko got his MPhil degree in 2013. Where in the world will such a person get two doctorate degrees in a matter of three years and rise to the rank of professor? It is a serious problem. Yet we talk about deteriorating performance at the tertiary level.

Tsikata and Dotse come nowhere near the calibre of professors at SMCU. The argument that students don't sit in the classroom for 4 years to complete a PhD is complete nonsense. Most UK PhD programmes requires students to take classroom modules only in the first year-the rest is field work. Graduates from SMC occupy top positions where they work. Who cares about Dotse or Tsikata? These are a bunch of clueless guys who just want attention. These are the people who will argue Bill Gates cannot lecture students because he doesn't have a PhD. Absolute nonsense!!

Do you know how many years it takes to study for a PhD, let alone two of them? These guys are talking of FAKE Certificates for goodness sake! The career path in any university depends on your PhD and further research accolades after a set number of years. Now this is a guy, who first of all holds fake PhDs which are not recognise by any credible university in the world. Has not served the career path, has never written any dissertation, and has not written any credible research paper published in any respectable journal being promoted faster than Usain Bolt could run the 100 metres and most of you people are saying the protest is all due to jealousy and tribalism. I am a Ga and (Prof Amartey is also a Ga) but no way I am going to play tribal card in this. You want to have PhD then study the three years for a PhD. Those of us in the diaspora can see how low Ghana educational standard has fallen. Many of our certificates and degrees are not accepted in British institutions. Educational standard has fallen so abysmally that the rich are sending their children abroad to be educated, and those who cannot are paying cut-throat fees for the better Ghanaian institutions. And some of you are defending Amartey and the UPS. So in conclusion those of who don't much about these things please stop writing your nonsense and leave it to intellectuals to discuss it.

The root cause of Ghana's falling educational standards must be traced to JJ's PNDC/NDC rule over the years.
The constitution was crafted to protect JJ and in the end, as a people, Ghanaians have 'cut their noses to spite their faces' The insults and outright disrespect to anyone who disagreed with NDC, was propagated by JJ and his cohorts from 1979. Several pseudo socialists and academics condoned JJ's extra judicial measures to silence Ghanaians over 11 long years before a semblance of democratic rule was ushered in in 1992. Just study the 1992 constitution and any objective observer in Ghana will appreciate why we are in this mess- because in their attempt to protect JJ, the PNDC/NDC sympathisers ensured that executive powers were unduly concentrated in the hands of the president; therein lies our social and economic decline under NDC rule to date. Again, anyone who has the courage to speak out as Rev Martey did, is subjected to abuse beyond belief. It is against this background that suddenly, these two NDC writers have researched Rev Martey's academic background to 'finish him off'; for daring to speak the obvious; that the NDC administration has over the last 7-8 years superintended over very poor management of Ghana's economy. All the vital economic indicators support this situation yet NDC and their supporters see things differently.
Anyone who disagrees with NDC is a non Ghanaian, because they belong to NPP. The Montie 3 and the ongoing Ford gift saga, can only reinforce the duplicitous nature of NDC.

1. Nobody can have two PhDs concurrently? Does the fact that one has two PhDs from different istitution necessarily make all the institutions invalid and unaccredited?

2. Concerning University of Central Nicaragua,is it accredited in their country? Does the fact that somebody could buy certificates from dear necessarily make the insitution unaccredited? Fopllowing that logic, then non of the universities (private or public)in Ghana will have a valid accreditation since dubious individuals forge/fake their certificates/degrees from time to time.

I suggest the researchers should present clearer evidence against the validity of the SMC and UCN certificates. By so doing, they shall be in a better position to alert all Ghanaians on the validity of certificates earned from these institutions and the likes.

I have copies of several written and valid theses from UCN, supervised by world renowned professors, Check Webometrics or the IAU directory and you will see UCN ranked there. Do your research. SMCU is a legally registered private institution of higher education in Switzerland(read about Swiss Education System), authorised to offer degree programs. The institution also has programmatic accreditation from ACBSP/CHEA.

Students at SMCU come from over 80 countries, most of them company directors and business executives. The faculty are some of the finest brains you can get in America and Europe, where nobody knows Dotse or Tsikata. I tell you, it is only in Ghana that these jerks will be given any attention. No wonder Ghana is going where.

The NAB does bot have the mandate to accredit any foreign institution. It can only register an already accredited institution. SMC is not an accredited institution. By implication, NAB committed an error by registering SMC. That's why the registration has been revoked. The certificates issued by SMC are therefore invalid. Explain this to Mr. OKoe.

Well, for your information there are more easy, stressless and convienient ways one can school with well accredited institutions worldwide. Professors at SMC are also lecturers at top Universities in Europe and USA (including Stanford). I don't think Dotse and Tsikata were privileged to learn from these noble professors. I will argue their PhDs are useless because they are not Oxford, MIT or LSE graduates.

SMCU has over 2,200 students from over 80 countries. Most SMCU postgraduate students are directors and business executives leading global institutions. SMCU is a registered private higher institution of education in Switzerland, running ACBSP accredited programmes. Which of these does Tsikata not understand?

These jerks should simply go have a life. They have just a little worthless education and they think the world revolves around them? It is only in Ghana that will consider these useless bunch anything. The world is moving forward in leaps and bounds, but you are wasting time listening to these scam. Aren't you concerned that both Goski and Okoe are or were members of NAB, the very institutions that were supposed to approve the registration of smc? No, they are no jerks. those of us who are familiar with the rigors of phd training know you can't pursue two phds concurrently; you will go crazy, give up, or simply do poor job - unless of course you do a shoddy work with the first and receive the second by paying 10,000.

i admire Goski for the hardworking ambitious woman that she is. I only wish she had directed that energy at acquiring her degrees, even if 20, from more credible institutions. I reside in Canada and univs like UBC, McGill etc which are all world class universities do offer online education up to PHD level. This allows flexibility for people to be able to combine degrees from masters to PHD.

Many people spend longer years than required to finish a PhD. Some universities won't allow you to keep at it forever and set an upper limit but it's hardly three years.

Anyway, I think your greatest call is the challenge to Amartey to list his academic publications for independent review. Then we shall see what work he's done and where they've been published.

This very school had a lot of respect and credibility in the 90s, the very reason why some of us decided to have our business education there. I pray that the incoming gov. Will take a corrective actions to dispel all unqualified lecturers like kweku mensah, Ofei n host of others. They are reducing gh tertiary standards far too low.
It is a public university not a family business.
