I suppose in the context of Ghana's politics, President John Mahama is only reminding Ghanaians of ex-President Kufour's voice on this subject. You may dislike Kufour but he's a sensible political operative than Akufo-Addo.

This a very poor attempt to analyse the matter. Prez. Mahama referred to Fmr. Prez. Kufour as a sensible man because he is an experienced President. That is a fact, not necessarily a self-serving one for Prez. Mahama. Also, Prez. Kufour made a fresh and recent comment at the University of Ghana to the effect that 4-year term as President was inadequate. Prez. Kufour obviously didn't say so to serve Mahama's interest but there is nothing wrong if Mahama can deduce a campaign message from it.
By the way, it is needless to bring Mr Obasanjo of Nigeria int this debate since the issue relates exclusively to Ghanaian politics and constitutional democracy, not about West Africa.
