The writeup turned sour on me in the very last paragraph; Ghana is in shambles because of an educated class without foresight and not because of the uneducated class. With few exceptions, we have had classroom educated but ignorant folks run Ghana since 1966.
Each of those leaders have been ignorant about history, proud to display their classroom earned credentials but short on work product despite being handsomely rewarded via our national coffers. For example can anyone in the NPP and NDC succinctly tell voters what Nana Akufo-Addo or president John Mahama is bringing to the table this election year that has not been proposed and tried with failure since 1966? All Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP want is another chance to steal Ghana blind and all Mahama and the NDC want is retain the stealing brigade they have in place. So you see our elections are not about foresight and the blueprint to get there but rhetoric fanned by tribal foolishness and touted by an ignorant news media.
In the final analysis we live in a trapped bubble in Ghana where we see some wonders the world and life can offer but handicapped to achieve because our kinfolks in the Diaspora are still haunted by tribal foolishness and party loyalties while those of us in Ghana's bubble continue to believe it's raining when the Rawlings's, Kufour's and the Mahama administration are pissing on our legs.

Abeeku,
Thanks for this incisive article. You are right, we are the root cause of our own problems. And that is probably because some paid echo chambers and butt kissers keep singing misguided praises to gain votes; empty praises that will not help in bringing us any closer to solving our problems.
There is a frequent Ghanaweb contributor who is probably more guilty of this than anybody I've read in our national discourse. For example, the concluding paragraphs of this guy's article titled 'Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo: The epitome of peace (III)' dated Aug. 18/2016, read:
"I am forever thankful to GOD for the life of this man! I am forever grateful to Nana Akufo-Addo for the peace that has kept Ghanaian families together, preventing a situation like in Sierra Leone where the war victims were asked the type of sleeves preferred, long or short, the answer for which determined whether the amputation of the limb would be whole or part!
If you fail to understand the situation then you need exorcism because it is only evil that cannot see evil. Is it any wonder that even international groups, leaders and well meaning people the whole world over sing the praises of Nana Akufo-Addo? To the extend that all visiting dignitaries make calls upon this man is testimony enough remains free of gunpowder toxins and horrific stenches of rotten dead bodies! Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Ayekooo!!!"
Nothing is factual here and the fact checkers out would have had a field day with this.

There is one thing any successful leader must provide to guide him/her to success in our quest for progress. Call it vision, mission policy, national development plan or agenda if you wish. This is the simplest, clearest missing component in our current quest for development.
Dr. Nii Moi Thompson emphasized this point and managed to get funding to get the process of crafting the 40-year development plan under way. Others, including, author Stephen Ata Owusu have drawn attention to the importance of such agenda. What is left is for citizens to carefully follow the drafting process and make meaningful contributions. Future politicians must then be compelled to deliver as minimum what the plan calls for, and at best, over-achieve beyond the goals set in the plan. To guide citizens in the constant fine-tuning of the plan, the various public and private think tanks, other research bodies could play a meaningful role.

Nkrumah built a world class university called KNUST to propel us into the technological age in the sixties.Fifty years later, it has been turned into an NPP propaganda shop led by the "ignorant fart" called Amoako Baah. Secondly, Wirekko Brobby, holds Ph.D in solar science. And the best position Kufuor ever gave him was CEO at a hydro dam built by Nkrumah which was labelled as a "vanity project" by the ancestors of NPP. To cap it all, Dr.Wirreko Brobbey, wasted more than $20 million importing expensive cars for foreign dignitaries to celebrate Ghana@50.He could have used that amount for solar research. His best contribution to solar science is establishing radio station that peddles nonsense on our airwaves on daily basis. The same person complains about dumsor whenever he encounters one. What hope is there:? I honestly cannot understand the critics of the Great and Visionary Kwame Nkrumah. There is no point having a go at Akua Donkor.

Nice and quiet decent expose'. The final part of calling Akua Donkor and Kumchacha illiterates was bit below belt.
My input is: do we really think JM for one was ready to be president? He received the crown in shock. He didn't have the opportunity to lay his personal propositions before assuming such a seat. Mills had done so that's why he knew what he was about but contended with poor health and some godless ministers.
Now I see pictures where JJ, Kuffuor, Nana and JM drink bottled water. You think they're affected by polluted water bodies?
You hear Nana talking of factories, DKM etc. Have you heard him say he'll end galamsey in 6 months? Have you heard JM?
All these leaders I say aren't meant for Ghana and it's good. The nation needs revolutionary leaders like Acheampong or Nkrumah. Pragmatic and realistic. Why stifle safety organization on the road? Why are Galamsey operators having a field day? Are the MTTU presidents to be siphoning public cash whiles enjoying free accommodation and utilities? How come NHIS is dead? Ghana why?

Very insightful. But it doesn't end there. The Ghanaian is full of jealousy and extremely self centered and petty. If you are a subordinate, you are not thought to be innovative or critical thinking. You are thought 'yes sir, master'. You are thought how to be corrupt and master theft of public funds at the behest of top corrupt public officials usually supervising over organize crime in public institutions. You are blackmailed and victimized if viewed as a threat to the rot in Ghana' s public institution. You won't belief that the Director general of Ghana Health Service Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira sacked three doctors within a month in office simply because they opposed corruption in Effia Nkwanta Hospital needlessly killing patients. In Nkrumah's time, besides able and competent leadership there was also spirit of patriotism and nationalism. Who cares about research when it is an open secret even donor money from international organizations meant for research and development including health is siphoned and squandered by greedy and corrupt institutional heads. Our public institutions today are also bedeviled by cult groups and secret societies presenting opportunities to bigots who have no capacity to perform in the midst of very good brains who are neutrals. These are essentially corrupt and illegal mafia societies who blackmail and destroy others in public institutions in the interest of members. Everything in the country is opaque fraud with mediocrity and illegality of the highest order. The worse culprits I beg to differ are the 'uneducated intellectuals' parading around with high flown qualifications who are just not unpragmatic but irresponsible and ingenious when it comes to problem solving. They go into top positions with one thing in mind, how to beat the system to illegally amass wealth mostly out of proportion. You cannot solve problems moving a nation forward if you have leaders with this backward and inward looking mentality to be passed on to generation of youth as future leaders.

Thinking back on this article, one can find many answers as to why Ghana has not improve since Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. It's plain that our leaders are just wicked to dry bones and have no intentions of developing the country for the benefit of Ghanaian's. If our past president's apart from Dr. Nkrumah have degrees why then are Ghanaian's selling dog chains, kids selling water etc to make earns meet. Whiles gold have been mined in Ghana for over one thousand years. Ghanaian's were better off when King's, Queen's and elders made decisions in the country. Not some greedy pocket politicians who have been lobbed by companies to promote GMO crops full of poison Ivy. Ghanaian's wise up, you have bad roads, no clean water etc and your still voting for that greedy pocket politicians who lie about everything. This year make your vote count for positive change. If you keep on voting for a corrupt government they would keep on stealing your future and leave you in poverty.

The past history prove to us and contemporary facts show the accomplishment made by countries that are near corruption free countries; their economical, social progress and their economic boom is in some African countries with almost non natural resources like Nigeria; the "DRC"; or Ghana is simply astonishing where their double digit Economic growth is among the top 3 (Three ) in the World attracting Foreign Direct Investment because of a fast developing Communication infrastructure in Tarmac roads; Electric train and becoming one of the 2 ( Two ) leading modern Airoplane communication both for People and Cargo and soon to become Africa's Number ONE both in the Number of new fleets as well as constructing and providing Electricity and already reaching 15 GW or 15 Thousand Megawatt electricity and with a concert plan to produce 30 - 35 GW Electric power generation per day by 2019.
We have seen over time that countries that have the best Economic growth are those that have good governance, and good governance comes Only from a Corruption free or a near Corruption free government and Society at large, It comes from ending Corruption with All the consequences it implies. It needs a popular uprising of the People.
