This is a well written article that calls for a closer examination of our executive president.
Does the average Ghanaian really understand Montesquieu's Separation of Powers - amongst the three branches of government, the executive, the judiciary, & the legislative, and the checks & balances they need to uphold to ensure that our democracy is functionining properly?
But the Separation of Powers with the three branches of government is not set in stone for democratic government.
Who said that we can't have the Fourth Estate, a term coined by Scottish philosopher Edmund Burke in the 18th century to describe the press? Our Constitution needs to be amended to include the press to act as a watchdog on the other branches.
Digitally, the time has come to create the Fifth Estate, using online tools to research and share information & knowledge. Nana Yaw Osei, I agree with you that the powers wielded by the executive president should be controlled, needs to be checked and balanced by all the Estates now in the future.

Now that you've diagnosed the problem, the question is "who will bell the cat?". The NDC definitely enjoys the enormous executive powers it had now. NPP surely will like it to continue so they can exact their pound of flesh when they come to power. None of these parties have any interest to change the status quo. May God save us.

We the people of Ghana will "bell the cat" to answer ur rhetorical question. We need to start the conversation to check our executive president irrespective of who comes to power.

The truth is that the 1992 Constitution was written to suit J.J. Rawlings. It was
crafted to give him a semblance of a democrat but with the powers of a dictator.
