Is this not the same Francis Kwarteng who is responsible for the howling errors of the Independence celebration brochure? Now he is writing regularly in the papers in order to display all the vocabulary and linguistic competence he can muster as a way of redeeming himself from the international embarrassment and opprobrium that his actions and inactions brought upon all of us as Ghanaians. There is no doubt that he has good command of the queen's English and that is why to this day I believe he deliberately wanted to embarrass the government. An act of sabotage. Unpardonable.

"Granted, Madam Forson’s article loudly discounted these underlying fabrics of our patriarchal phallocentrism and misogynistic national mindset, instead arguing against the recurring invocation of this peculiar rhythm of subterranean covariates as alibis to explain away out hypocritical proclivities". What is this? No wonder the webmaster is confused and cannot notice the difference between the first two installments of this series. You have to listened to your readers, and tone down for them to appreciate your drift. You have ideas, but I am not afraid to tell you your diction and flare sucks. Dr. SAS, Dr. Bokor and of course, the indomitable Prof Kwame Ahoofe could probably be of help if you really care to improve your poor writing style.

Now that you have a very simplistic idea of what "Queen's English" means, you might do well to tell those who "invented" the "Queen's English" to remove your own "Kwashiokor," that has become a standard vocabulary in "the Queen's English," from your "Queen's English."

Having said that, I will not waste another time convincing you to look at the hundreds of thousands of borrowed words and phrase that have become a standard part of your "Queen's English."

So, you should realize how your "own" simplistic definition of "Queen's English" makes complete nonsense of your argument.

"Standard" or "accepted" is a relative concept even within what call "Queen's English."

Sometimes it is even more about "accent" than about "standard" grammatical rules. This is why there is something called "Received Pronunciation."

Moreover, "the Queen's English" is not even the "standard" in every English-speaking country from America, to Australia, to BRITAIN...perhaps it is more prevelaent in the uouth of England.

Read the Anglo-Saxon literature of 18th century right down to the Shakespearean era and then via the literature of modern England and you will get the faintest idea of what I am talking about!

It tells me you still have to take some time looking at comparative linguistics, evolution of the alphabet (so-called Latin/Roman alphabet), Egyptology and Greco-Roman history (classics)...

And who says I write to impress? Whom do I write to impress on Ghanaweb? Am I impressing YOU? You? No. Remember don't know you! Also remember know one pays me to write.

Well, this is what another dictionary says (my emphasis) about your "Queen's English":

"the English language as it is spoken in the south of England, considered by SOME PEOPLE as a standard of good English."

Did you just read "SOME PEOPLE"? And SOUTH OF ENGLAND?

Have you bothered to find out or read about marked regional differences in what is termed as "standard" or "the Queen's English" across the UK (and the rest of the English-speaking world)!?

Here is another definition (my emphasis):

"the form of spoken and written British English that is considered correct by MOST PEOPLE."

Did you read "MOST PEOPLE"?

So, what constitutes "Queen's English" is not generally an accepted concept by all people, including me.

For instance, in your first comment you wrote:

"queen's English"!

Show "queen's English" to any educated person in the south of England and see what he/she tells you!

Lest I forget, I have found the words "phallocentrism, covariates, medicalization" in lierature written in "the Queen's English." I have also found your own "Kwashiokor" in literature written in "the Queen's English."

And literally hundreds of thousands of words and phrases...So much with this "Queen's English" nonsense!

Anyway, the way I am writing now is just the beginning. Remember that I have a target audience who truely enjoy this kind of writing.

Have a great day and continue to read if you choose to. I am done with you and anyone who is infatuated with "the Queen's English."

And in case you have not noticed yet, your definition and mine do not say anything of technical importance of what "the Queen's English" really is!

Although South England might be a nice place to live, please get this: I'm not moving there just so as to understand your writing... which is really shitty to begin with! I'm sure your targeted audience might but not this guy here. There is enough well-written articles on Ghanaweb and elsewhere to go around. And another thing: if you had to go back to remedial times to prove the words you use in your writing in today's world, then there is no wonder you dragged Ghana into an eternal shame during the recent Ghana independence day celebration fiasco. And remember, even the linguists will tell you language is an ever evolving thing and never static. Even Shakespeare would have told you that.

Why are such men dominating on the political scene? Why are charlatan pastors given the most attention? Why are the real role models pushed aside? Is there a reason why are the Kennedy adjapong types all around with microphones chasing them?

We must look at the roots of our end justifies the means culture in Ghana and examine why this is so. We don't question folks with funny money anymore like the past. Until then girls will continue to be abused for jobs, grades, opportunity etc
