  Voting for an independent presidential candidate is the only way to end the 'Ny3 Bro' fraternity of the corrupt party system in our present democratic milieu. However, we must not be deluded into thinking the present independent presidential candidates contesting Mahama and Akufo Addo are the panacea to the desultory political parties.
  
  The present independent presidential candidates are all Ghanaian breed and lack substance. They may even be more corrupt and perfidious than the incumbent, and handing them power would not be a smart idea. The reason is that, the Rawlings induced 1992 Constitution vests immeasurable power in the Presidency and choosing an independent presidential candidate who has no political party to provide the proverbial checks and balances would spell an instant disaster if the person has no substance.
  
  I will definitely vote for an independent presidential candidate who is a Ghanaian but not of the present Ghanaian stock. A leader of substance who does not have a streak of perfidy nor treachery in his blood. You would know this person when he/she opens the mouth to speak. The likes of Kwame Nkrumah and Abrefa Busia who were trained and lived abroad many years before venturing to Ghana - selfless and dedicated to the cause. There true Ghanaians, civilized and highly enlightened out there who fit this profile. We must look for them and bring them down just as UGCC spotted the potential of Kwame Nkrumah and brought him down to Ghana.

The Brits have the same two party system but when Ghanaians cannot practice the same system they want to bring a new idea which has not been tested and found to work For some of the people propounding this theory is simply becausethis idea is just because of their hatred for President Mahama. As soon somebody of their stock is selected then nobody talks about this theory again. Did I hear this theory when President Kuffour was the President? What was the performance of Mr. Carl Wilson was given the opportunity to serve this nation? Will the independent presidential candidate do all the work in Ghana? He will appoint people of Carl Wilson's calibre to serve in some functions. Let us examine ourselves as Ghanaians and change our ways then Ghana will work.
