The Progressive Nationalist Forum (PNF) has served notice of their intention to ensure the removal from office of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei.

The anti-corruption group has in effect petitioned President John Dramani Mahama for onward transmission to Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, Madam Georgina Theodora Wood, to commence the process of a prima facie case against the EC boss.

The three-page fifteen-paragraph petition which was filed on February 8, 2016, by the Spokesperson of the group, Richard Nyamah, invoked Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution to buttress his argument.

Mr. Nyamah late last year brought to the fore of the public that the EC boss was serving on two independent State institutions, an action he considers, was an affront to the Constitution and demanded her immediate removal from office.

Nyamah, according to a statement issued in Accra, Thursday, has since gathered the necessary evidence to make the case for the removal of the Madam Charlotte Osei from office.

“He takes the view that the EC boss’s belated resignation from Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited (a Limited Liability Company with 100% Ghana government shareholding) smacks of an admission of the breach of the prohibition of Article 44(4) of the Constitution.”

“He seeks to exercise his right as a citizen to uphold the Constitution against such acts of serious misconduct, and looks forward to demonstrate that she exercised grave misjudgment and violated the Constitutional requirements of her office with “terms and conditions of service as a Justice of the Court of Appeal” and is therefore no longer fit to remain in that august office.”

“The best interest of Ghana must always be served by all citizens”, he added.
