Recently a former colleague told me about GLU. He was raving about the composition as Ghanaian intellectuals, level headed and ready to assist our dear nation with it's problems.
Little did I know that it is just another of these pseudo-independent groups parading around and doing the dirty work of those opposed to the NDC government.
How else does such, supposedly intellectual group's president, write that the government has received $200m for "the two terrorists" transferred to Ghana? No evidence is provided. (I have also seen the picture of the 2 men with captions that $100 each was offered to President Mahama for their transfer to Ghana, on WhatsApp)The GLU president lost me when he wrote that. I was expecting a more serious article from the President of GLU.
Was he speaking for the whole organization?
For the avoidance of doubt, let me state that I am also opposed to the transfer of the 2 ex-Gitmo detainees to Ghana. That decision, on the face of it, is very reckless. I would have wished that in the process of discussing this issue, we refrain from the usual NPP/NDC nonsense that goes on in Ghana.
I am really disappointed, GLU

I am not a GLU member; Please READ MORE OFTEN, and WIDER SOURCES; you will then read in the US papers that President Obama, flanked by CEO's of Monsanto, etc. bribed President Mills with $75 million to introduce GMO seeds to Ghana; and the NDC government's (aided and "bribed" by USAID) is insisting on passing the Plant Breeders bill which is aimed at giving up OUR FOOD sovereignty to Foreign (mostly US) co's; You will read of President Obama, dangling "aid" carrot, wants to force gayism down our throat; You would have read of the then NDC chairman Dr. Kobena Adjei contracting to resettle US laboratory chimps and monkeys that had been used for tests; You would have read of NDC gurus contracting to undertake Ebola trials on nursing students at HO for a a mere $25.00 cell phone. One does not have to be a GLU member to admonish this NDC govt. for all these STINKING DEALS. A fact is a fact. This Mahama NDC govt. seems to be covered in PLENTY STINKING DEALS.

Are you asking us to believe that in return for accepting these 2 suspected terrorists the NDC Government received $200? If so then I am inclined to believed that $200 miliion is closer to the mark?

Case in point, Ghana has a population of 25.7 million, with 38.8% under age 14. Yet the NDC and EC think it is alright to have 14.8 million on the electoral register.
Anybody who protests about this national fraud automatically becomes NPP?
What is the real point of taking in those terror suspects? What else but money or some hidden political favour will entice any leader to do such a thing against the interest of his own people?

There should a difference between NPP/NDC "Serial Callers" making wild allegations on Ghana (and external) radio stations, and a group the is comprised of "seasoned intellectuals". That is why I find the GLU president's piece really disappointing.
Where did the President of GLU get the $200 million figure from? Where is his proof? And for those who are using other "bribes by Obama" in the past, you sound more pathetic than I thought you would.
Bribing foreigners for any business deals is a serious crime in the US, so to insinuate that the President of the United States is bribing others, without any proof is very dangerous.
Oh the percentage of registered voters vrs the general population issue, please watch the EC chairs appearance of Newsfile, the video is available on the Joyfm website, and if the explanation there does not satisfy you, you have the right, and obligation, to submit something to the contrary.
Professionals are obligated to behave as such. There should be a difference between rabid partisans and intellectuals who are supposed to live in a fact-based world.
Finally, let me restate my position that I disagree with the government on its decision to bring the ex-Gitmo detainees to Ghana. I don't think it was in the national interest.
By the way, why has the leadership of the NPP been so quiet on this burning national issue? Just curious !!!

Dear Jojo, I genuinely knows fact, helps to disabuse our minds and arrive at a decision that is highly uncompromising but, what if facts are shielded in secrecy? All the facts exist that these inmates are Al-Quada trainees yet our leaders chose to ignore the records and did the contrary and you wants us to believe there is no financial inducement? You see, Ghana as at now is in serious scarcity of honest leaders and people who doesn't think with their stomachs and bank accounts. The facts you are referring us to doesn't make any sense to these elites who are prepare to sacrifice the nation to their masters for something called peanuts. It grieve our hearts when we hear these same elites demand for facts when in actual environment they have succeeded in shielding them from public scrutiny and honest questioning. I can put my integrity to the test that, the facts you are alluding to will never appear if you try earnestly to look for them and if they seem to be appearing will happen in awkward partiality. Sometimes, the only way to avoid being victim to the advocates of facts is to move and obey your instincts and fair judgement. Thank you
