Galamsey, an illegal activity, is destroying the environment and it does not pay any royalties, taxes to the government. If you condone galamsey, you might as well condone 419, armed robbery, bank fraud etc...

I'm back to my former employer(galamsey) n that's what I survive with. the government 'll leave me with no hope goin forward cos companies are not employing. I was saddened wen I read dis story. Imagine how our country would have turn to if galamsey never existed in Ghana: rich vegetations, good water from water bodies around us, among others, not forgetting the other social vices that would have consumed us making life unpleasant and worth living in Ghana here with current economic crisis.
I think the govt need not just abolish it but regulate their operations. They should engage the public institutions involved like the EPA, the Mineral Commission, etc, feasibility studies be properly conducted in certain areas as the govt will designate to them to operate, then allow them to operate while the govt institutions monitor, with environmental protection and sustainability in mind while serving the needs of the local people(jobs).
For s better Ghana.
