This person's reasoning is from the stone ages. If you take an under age child to a job site and make them perform any kind labour, that can be defined as child labour even if it's done outside school hours. But on the other hand we cannot blame people for that, we should blame the leaders of our country who steal all the money instead of using it for all of our benefit.
When people can hardly afford to feed their families, they tend to use any means necessary to make end meet.

I will add that children working under the supervision of parents, also helps them to learn important skills for life. The available quality of schooling for the poor in Ghana usually cannot help them to achieve anything meaningful in life either they will drop out due lack of finances or they will finish and join the unemployment graduate association of Ghana. The government should develop vocational education and training so that children can learn skills that guarantee jobs in the future. Until then poor parents will not see the need to pay money for education that has no value

What conflicting statements. So the parents go to the quarry in the morning and the kids follow up after school? Or the parents wait for the kids to come back from school before they start work (with the kids). And what part of quarry work is not dangerous for these kids. What type of protective gears are they provided with? Most, NOT ALL, of the kids are with their parents, what about the rest of the children? And Ayikoe is leader of discipline? What discipline?

Even the president and all his and her ministers in Ghana are practicing child labour. (maid, watchboys and house boys. You see how stupid they are?At the same time , all of us are complaining about child labour.

Children should be in school learning, instead of cracking stones. The question then is; how do parents manage the income they need to sustain their families ?

It is amazing that when an American 14 year old goes to work after school at McDonald's it means teaching your child to be independent but when an African child at whatever age goes to work before or after school, it is described as child labour. Africans need to open their eyes and do things that work for them. If teaching a child a trade in Africa starts from infancy by our culture, so be it. What we need is to make sure the child gets the opportunity to be educated also so that he/she can practice the trade with a more educated approach than the parents are doing. Let us not copy blindly but make laws that work for us based on our culture.

The man is trying to justify child labor at his business instead of simply shutting it out. A very questionable position morally and legally. How can a child work in a quarry in the morning before going to school? This is insane. Is he doing the same thing to his own children?

we can not keeping compering ourselves with those in the advanced countries since they have everything they need and want.
since they consider that as child labour and do not want us to practise that, then they should kindly share their wealth with us. all things can not be equal and so they should stop imposing certain things on us.
i rest my case!!
