PK makes a sad error. Most writers say ÄLL THINGS BEING EQUAL' Scientifically nothing is static , so when you make a projection ,this becomes a simplification. Obviously PK has not done simple maths to recognize y= mx +c .Now why compare Galbraith an academic with Form and GM .Capita;ism and is just private ownership of capital and Ford an entrepreneur.Galbraith was writing in the theoretical mode and making predictions depending on a constant environment. What we should accept is CHANGE takes place and Humans are ADAPTIVE.He makes the same error when criticizing Marx and Malthus and the other writers.

Busia did not say that he was going to stay in power indefinitely, and he did not declare Ghana as a one-party state either. Moreover, he was given a 5year mandate to deliver for Ghanaians to judge whether to extend his tenure or go for a different leader. But the communist leftovers got panicked and overthrew him prematurely because they were afraid of his achievements. Truly, the man knew exactly what he was coming to do for Ghana and hit the ground running from day one.
On the other hand, Nkrumah had been in power for sixteen years and turned himself into a president for life. In the sixties, the country almost went bankrupt politically and economically and Ghanaians yearned for a change. But unfortunately, since Nkrumah shut all the doors that would enable them exercise their political will, and change him democratically through the ballot box; the only option left to them was a military coup. Therefore, the coup that removed Kwame Nkrumah from power was the only legitimate coup in the history of Ghana.

Oga Baidoo,
It is a petty I couldn't manage to follow properly and comment on the exchanges so far. In fact, couldn't even complete reading some. But what I have gleaned so far is that you aren't quite impresssionable with your anyalsis. Francis has been shredding you into pieces quite easily. And he could this too.
Now, in this particular piece, the holes are gaping for anyone with a clue to see through,
If market forces were that superb, there would have been the load of state interventions to prop the system up. Who does not know about the recent bail outs after the credit crunch; just being the more glaring case? All alt those subisidies to farmers in the US and Europe? And there wouldn't have been all that anti-monoply legislations, etc.
Anyway, with all those mergers, we may as yet experience what Marx predicted. Read about Transaction Theory? Methinks it is just a new excuse to rationalise the existence of monopolies.

They are still in the doldrums and they ones who barely sneezed like Canada and the Scandinavian countries and China. As they say "Res ipsa loquitur" the facts speak for themselves

Who told you dumbass those countries are not capitalist economically? China dropped its communist and Carl Marx communist economic ideas more than twenty years ago with Soviet Union and joined the capitalist economic bandwagon if you don't know.

Cousin Kojo T,
You're also spot on in pointing out to him that social science predictions are not written on stone, sure to occur like the prediction of a solar eclipse. It is always based on "if..." occurs or does not occur. So it is said systems suffer entropy if they don't change in tandem with the external environment in which they operate. It doesn't mean it'd happen to all institutional systems.
In the early '90s, Motorola and Nokia were the rages in the mobile industry. Where are they now? Then came Blackberry, something if you're trendy you must have. Where's Blackberry now?
Anyway, these right-wingers are purveyors of myths, which they perpetuate and insist on are the absolute truths even if provided glaring facts to the contrary! It is often a waste of one's times responding to them. I do so for the sake of the wider readership with an open mind they might otherwise have deceived with their lies and distortions.
The fact that all the newly developed Asian countries reached their present levels through command economies, often brutally pursued by their repressive govts, is an anathema to mention to them. yes, from japan to Thailand. When I saw the mopping up operations against the rural Maoist rebels in Thailand whose lands were seized, I was shocked. Human beings were being killed off like rodents!
A glimpse at Japan. It has been written that prior to WW11 when Japan was industrialising, they sent shiploads of their second rate goods to the Pacific islands controlled by the Americans and the British with Japanese settlers. The Japanese shops must compulsorily stock them and the Jap settlers must compulsorily buy them, with a registers kept for that purpose. If they didn't, there were consequences for the families back in Japan and for themselves should they stepped into Japan!
Well into the 1990s, atomic-bombed and occupied Japan was still implementing the One Grain Policy which prohibited the importation of any food iem with one grain of rice in it! Rather, Japanese were forced to pay 6 times the world price of rice for locally produced rice in the name of internal self-sufficiency in rice production! There was nothing Americans can do except gnashed their teeth and occasionalling indulging in what was then known as Japanese Bashing in order to relieve their anger. Of course, that was not the only item the Japs had tariffs against or banned outfight from importation.
The so-called Asian Tigers had similar systems in place. In short, there was nothing like free trade with the rest of the world, with Western countries allowed unfettered access into their countries. This is simply in recognition of the fact that the Western countries themselves
developed behind similar walls and restrictions imposed by their states. They still have them and are causing developing countries over 100 billion dollars in trade losses annually, according to UNCTAD, etc.!
Anyone remembers the flop Botchwey had when he hired a factory in Germany to produce cocoa butter for sale in the EU in order to avoid the tariffs that wipe off the gains from cocoa butter produced in Ghana. He was trying to emulate the Japs setting up car assembly plants in the EU and America to avoid restrictions on their car exports. Next time the WTO is meeting, he and his ilk should ask what Africa is gaining by being in it, and whether the same rules apply to us.
For many in the LDCs, participation in this Global Apartheid system, other words also called Globaloney, shall remain a zero sum game until they die. And they are dying in their millions in the proxy wars necessary to maintain it, and the famines and diseases associated with it; drowning in their 100s in the Mediterranean trying to escape it! The capitalism produced barbarism Rosa Luxemburg wrote about before her dastardly murder would occur if the logic of capitalism is fully realised unhindered is real and happening. THEY don't have eyes to see it if their intellectual devt fails to grasp it for them!

Mr. Baidoo the utter nonsense you have shown by criticizing Rachel Carson, Paul Ehrlich, & John Galbraith have prevented you and your ilk from researching vigorously, and engaging in robust reflection on the works of these world renowned intellectuals.
Don't tell me you did all that to get to Kwarteng, just for disagreeing with his Nkrumahist views.
