Will the President heal himself of the dead goat syndrome to solve Ghana's problems for us. The hardship is too much. The behaviour of the President is sinking Ghana big time

Being also over 60, your piece brought tears. I keep asking, "how can Ghana, a country admired internationally, envied on the continent, loved by its citizens (including the opposition), and poised to reach the heights in education, professions, industries, etc. find herself on the rocks, with citizens hopelessly praying/singing/shouting daily for some deliverance/relief"?
Yes, I'm old enough to attribute our decay to our military interventions. But even then nowhere was thievery as prevalent and endemic as what we see now. While Ghana now wallows in poverty, these same "LEARNED" thieves are looting AWAY our meagre treasury with bloated and nepotistic/party contracts, judgement debts, borrowing for NON-EXISTENT PROJECTS, negotiating away our resources for a kickback in their foreign accounts. NO WONDER THE CEDI KEEPS SLIDING DOWN!!
If (at least some of) the looted wealth is not returned to invest in the promised "SOCIAL DEMOCRACY" the youth may one day soon embark on an "Arab Spring" or "Burkina-Style" takeover. We the 40-65 year generations will have ourselves to blame when that happens.

So what is the bottom line of your write up? That we shouldn't celebrate our Republic Day or what. Yes we are facing economic hardship just as any other country is facing meaning our tariffs increment, exchange rate etc are not unique to Ghana alone, but politically we have advanced which makes the republic day hundred percent relevant to celebrate.
You have mixed up economic issues with political celebration. As a matter of fact, you should have talked about elections conducted in the country, whether it has been successful, you should have talked about freedom of speech by the citizens, you should have also talked about supremacy of the constitution, you should have talked about access to information, level of political education. These and others constitute the Republic Day. What you have written as economic problems are appropriate for Independent Day and not Republic Day. It is purely about citizens' political rights and access.

It is shameless for people to think that Ghana is free forever. If you have leaders like Mahama sitting there as President, nothing good will happen in Ghana

It is only fools and sycophants of the criminally degenerate system we live in, who take refuge and consolation in the abstract and dubious notions of freedom of speech, supremacy of corrupted elections and such nonsense such as the supremacy of the constitution.
It is parasites and bootlickers of the criminal politicians who have ruined this country, who find reason to defend the absolute mess that we are in and who are the real enemies of progress of this country.
No morally inclined person in his right mind who reads this article would not feel at least a tinge of grief and sadness about the simple but painful truths expressed in it.
You even have the audacity to direct this true patriot about how and when he should have written this simple master-piece. How dare you? Are you crazy?

Petty article. Don't actually understand the focus. Everytime electricity or water increases then its imf? When we weaned ourselves from imf did these increases stop? I agree its insensitivity, corruption and mismanagement that has brought us this far. But our continuous demand for free things and subsidy will only lead us into deeper economic crises. Lets bite the bullet and secure the economic future of our children. These increases are inevitable and the two main parties know that.
