    True, competition must be allowed to prevail, however, tax & duty evasion is unacceptable & this govt should be able to confirm or deny the claims being made. But they are very silent on the matter

    This is not about competition. It's about tax evasion that is undercutting the local market.

    Pure market economics at work...increase production so the price will likely fall and the profit margin for the importers will dwindle to put them out of business

    is it the business of manufacturers to worry about non collection of taxes. they should leave this for GRA. Rather produce more cement an reduce your prices so your competitors will not import cement. Simple economics.

    Why local companies are crying? Cement must be cheaper. I support importers to create more competitive market.

    Why are people on this thread confusing the issue of avoiding paying tax/duty and competition. Competition is fine, undercutting the local market by avoiding paying tax and duty is not!
