What Kofi Ata raises in this article is serious business, and not political laced analysis. In fact for the political laced fickle minded compatriots, something similar to the central theme of Kofi's article was going through my mind this morning before l read Kofi's piece.
As a historical analogy, let us imagine the late Robert Kennedy, allegedly engaging in nefarious activities bordering on criminal behaviour with security implications during the presidency of the late Jack Kennedy; the FBI and other US security agencies would have pinched the affair in the bud, or exposed it right away, to save then president Kennedy (and USA) embarrassment. This is that sort of dedication, nationalism and professionalism missing in Ghana's body politic, and which Kofi is trying to educate us on.
Kofi is not accusing Ibrahim Mahama of a crime, rather he is asking Ibrahim to, in the interest of President Mahama and the republic, come out and without mincing words, address the primary premise of Kennedy Agyepong's allegation. Ibrahim can either do it on his own, or with his legal counsel sitting beside him at a news conference (or in an open letter), to quench this rumour/allegation, once and for all.
And for contributors on Ghanaweb, can we Ghanaians afford to discuss the matter of an article without resorting to tribal slurs, insults or the likes? Our behaviour on this, (and other online/media forums) is very despicable, to say the least.

Ruby also works out there an she drives a Porsche Cayene Turbo S with "Angel 1 " license plate. She also drives a Mercerdes CLS 270. I had a conversation with her one day and she informed me that she owns an Italian lights shop in Dwuwolu. I was building a house then and I asked if she could come to my property and give an estimate. I called her several times but she never responded. It was clear then that selling lights were unimportant to her. Given her demeanor at the gym. It was also clear that she was into something else. If Ibrahim dated her, it would be surprising if he didn't know she was a big time street chemist. I also believe the two license plates tells an interesting story.

Ibrahim owes Agyapong no explanation,if the security thinks a relationship is grounds enough to invite somebody for questioning then that is up to them.Kofi's overstretch of imagination is unhelpful and will go a long way to undermine the rule of law and the right of the individual.

What is important is whether there is a connection between the cocaine haul and Ibbrahim but most importantly is the laxity in the vip lounge.Any body of substance has access to it, friends of mps and government officials all have access to it and that is true.If today because of that bad girl we should re look at the protocol fine but I guess if we want to look at what happened yesterday many people will be implicated.All we have to do is to turn a new leaf in protocol allocations.

Ibrahim Mahama did not choose to be the brother of the President of Ghana but that is what fate has dealt him and he has used that family connection to extricate himself from a very dubious bank loan and anything he does affect the image of his brother who happens to be the President.

Ndc is throwing dust into the eyes of Ghanaians with this Alhaji Daud or Dawood nonsense. Is that Alhaji politically connected enough for him to sit home and make a telephone call to the Airport and the floodgates of the VVIP or VIP opened to his cocaine couriers? How did he manage to escape like Amedeka did in the infamous Judges murder?

Why is that always in Ndc governments,the criminals who can connect ggovernment complicity in crimes manage to excape whilst others are "sacrificed" to save the Kingpins?

Once again, you are fixated on the politics of the issue. Ibrahim is the direct brother of the President and most of his actions and financial dealings are intertwined with the presidency. This is a well known fact to all Ghanaians. If he knowingly placed himself in such a compromising position by befriending a known drug queen who is being monitored by the so-called security service, then such action will surely bring the office of the presidency into disrepute. This is a big dereliction of duty on the part of the National Security Agencies by turning a blind eye on this nefarious relationship and allowing it to fester to the detriment of the nation. No one is accusing Ibrahim of his involvement in this cocaine deal YET. Now we are all going to reap the international disgrace which is being tied to our president.I guess some of you people who call yourselves Ghanaians don't care because you have not much stake in the image of Ghana, but for those of us who have only this country to call our own, it is a disgrace.

Okonko Palm, good afternoon wherever you are this sunny Sunday from Cambridge. There everything wrong with having a relationship with a criminal if one is aware of the criminal activities and failed to report to the appropriate authorities and if one also benefited from such criminal activities as well as assisted the criminal activities. For these reasons alone Ibrahim Mahama owes Ghana a duty to answer the questions I posed.

Yes, Ibrahim Mahama is an adult and must be held responsible for his action and omissions and President Mahama should not be brought into it. Indeed, Kennedy Agyapong made that clear that the alleged relationship between Ibrahim and the cocaine woman has nothing to do with the president. However, we cannot deny the fact that because the president when Vice-President intervened on his brother's behalf in a business matter this case will have implications for the president personally and for the office he holds, if indeed it is true that the cocaine woman was Ibrahim's girlfriend. In fact, this is even serious if it is true that Ibrahim used his position to facilitate access to the VIP/VVIP for the cocaine woman and her friends. For these reasons, there are legitimate questions to be asked and to be answered by Ibrahim.

Last but certainly not the least, this case has serious implications for Ghana. Now governments officials who travel on behalf of the state for official business using the VIP/VVIP will be subjected to stricter scrutiny at foreign airports in Europe and North America and other countries for no fault of their. Not minding the delays and embarrassment, it could also be expensive for the state as such delays could result in some missing connection flights and the state having to pay for alternative flights so that the officials could be at important meetings, etc. I am talking from experience in the past.

I just cannot fathom how asking such pertinent questions will undermine the rule of law and the right of the individual. Rather, the opposite is the case because it is the lack of proper accountability through strict scrutiny of people in positions of trust and the rich and powerful and those with powerful connections, which breeds the indiscipline and lawlessness in Ghana that has led to some unknown Alhaji Dawud being able to call a state official to order him to let someone trafficking in cocaine use the VIP/VVIP Lounge at KIA.

Here in Cambridge, a police traffic officer arrested the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire Constabulary (Police) for over-speeding. As a result, the Chief Constable had to resign. Had that happened in Ghana the poor traffic officer would have lost his job for having the guts to stop the Chief Constable because he is above the law. Unless all and sundry in Ghana come under the law, Ghana could one day be taken over by drug barons, the beginning of a lawless state and the road to a failed state.

Markets in the United States have dried up primarily because Americans deem it unattractive and a grave danger to their health to snot cocaine as they did in the 1980s...so, these South American drug barons have been compelled to find new markets which they did in Western Europe...but then there has to be a conduit for their drugs and they readily saw in the corrupt and poorly governed nation-states of West Africa easy prey...our officials not only in Ghana but everywhere else in the region have been compromised by the South America drug biggies.....The DEA of the United States recently arrested a high ranking military officer of the Guinea Bissau army for aiding South American drug peddlers to ship huge amounts of drugs to Europe.....no wonder Ghana has become an easy conduit for drugs emanating from South America...the reason is as simple as ABC.....easy money.....there was even a case of some South American drug kingpins landing their jumbo jet loaded with cocaine in a desert in some African nation only to set it ablaze after the landing gear malfunctioned.....they by then had gotten rid of the merchandise....somebody in the political hierarchy knew about this smuggling ring, but kept their mouth shut....he/she was bribed heavily...

Lets be concerned about important issues and let the drug mules do their thing...they will be caught no matter what and spend the rest of their miserable lives languishing in European jails.....

The question again is where is the MISSING ship and who was behind it? This issue can still be dealt with retrospectively irrespective of who might have been behind it. The rumour making the rounds in London is that the British security authorities have got hold of three telephones and four SIM cards that were in the possession of the lady at the time of her arrest.

If that rumour has any substance, then it will be in the interest of the Ghanaian authorities to pre-empt the situation by coming clean with the people of Ghana. This 'Nayelegate' thing is not going anywhere fast because the British authorities will go into the very heart of it!

Those of you who accuse me of being political and bias against the NDC or have stopped raising issues involving NPP because I have been intimidated, let me assure you that, I have no interest in being political in my articles. I am not afraid of any individual/s or political party.

I write on issues of the moment and of interest to the reading public. Of course, with NDC/NPP turning every important matter in Ghana into politics, one unfortunately gets tagged as being part of one side or the other. That is inevitable, particularly on Ghanaweb but also because, when two elephants fight, it the grass (in the vicinity of the contest)that suffers. So as I debate the very subject that NDC/NPP are fighting over, I become a victim of their political argument. I do my best to be objective in my articles but that does not mean that I should not debate issues of national importance just because NDC/NPP are involved or have interest.

My current focus is on NDC because it is the party in government and must be held accountable. When it's time for election and the campaign begins, those standing for the presidency could be of interest of analysis or when such personalities raise subject of public interest, I will not shy away from debating them. My objective is to contribute to socio-economic and political development, as well as deepen democracy and the rule of law in Ghana and not to write in support of or against NDC or NPP.
