Not only those yet to be born are likely to miss this culture. Even as of now this tradition is very unpopular. I personally have not heard about this before. I thought it was only during 'biragoro' that the girls eat 'eto'. But in spite of our differences, I think these cultures are what make us unique. We should embrace them rather than disregard them..... Nice article. Keep it up

Another misguided African turning her back on her culture in the name imported religion, Christianity. In this religion, they talk about his body and drinking blood, even if symbolically so. They worship dead white people known as "saints", and Black people join in without complaint. But when it comes to celebrating your own culture you say what? If the white man had turned his back on his religion, do you think you be have embraced it?

Our culture is fading fast into oblivion and not even our political and traditional leaders seem to care a hoot about it. The invasion of foreign cultures and the influence of Christianity are to blame for this worrying development in our nation's history. I wonder if there is a ministry in charge of culture alone and what it's doing to revive and promote our dying culture.

It took my mind off politics and sent my memory back home to these simple and beautiful things we have back home as traditions. I've been away from home for so long I'll admit that I have forgotten we have this ceremonial tradition. As a matter of fact, it put a big smile on my face just remembering it.
I'm glad we still have them and thanks for reminding me that I come from a beautiful place with beautiful cultures.
