  As an English teacher, Okoampa appears totally oblivious of the less favored use of the split infinitive in formal writing; that is why this short piece is surfeited with these anomalous phrases:
  
  1. to cavalierly impugn
  
  2.to smugly assert
  
  3.to openly support
  
  4. to routinely observe
  
  It is a sign of grammatical incompetence for one to be so enamored with the split infinitive in the formal context. Okoampa will do well to purge himself of this weakness.
